Purchase? PURCHASE!? Oh my, you have much to learn young grasshopper. :p

That's good advice and all but it doesn't really have anything to do with the problem he has... |

Awww...you called me young. I just might learn to like you DigiNut. :tongue2
Yes, sometimes you need to purchase. I will admit that I have some bootleg software installed on my computer, but sometimes you need to make sure that you're not getting crap. If you were not talking about bootleg then please disregard my previous statement. ;)

I know it doesn't, but it can't hurt to make suggestions. :D I know this isn't what Vivid Boy is talking about, but who knows who might read this. When I had three people ask me to look at their computers because they were locking up I simply cleaned out everything first and for two of the computers it was like night and day. They had never cleaned them out before...ever. I used both ad-aware and spy sweeper and went through all the programs they had running. All three of them thought that had a virus on their computer and none of the computers did.
All in all I would delete any programs that you don't need. Some of that crap is a gateway for other things to get inside of your computer. If you have Gator, Hot Bar, My Search Now, or anything like these installed on your computer...get rid of them! They are crap. |

vividboy... i am wondering if you downloaded the latest version of messenger plus???
because the exact same stuff started happening to me after I downloaded what seemed to be legit but turns out to be a haven for spyware....
Plus, it tends to mess up with the html pages and make wierd links appear all over the place... :whip:
I just uninstalled messenger plus... and it's all gone.. what a piece of software for messenger... NO ONE DOWNLOAD IT... (at least the new version) |

Go here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html
Get CWShredder and HijackThis. Try using CWShredder, that mysearchnow url sounds suspicious. If that doesn't work, post your HijackThis log here and I'll see what I can do for you, or you can post it on the spywareinfo.com forums and they should be able to help. I might not be able to get back to you in the next couple of days though, as I'll have limited internet access.
You also may want to consider installing the Sun Java Virtual Machine instead of using the Microsoft one. It has fewer security holes that spyware can use to install itself on your system.
Good luck,

| Internet Explorer has more Holes than a shop in Bayroot, It can be exploited every way possible, updating versions makes things worst and un secure, back to spyware i presume you have some .exe or .vb files in your System folder keep updating your IE Preferences, Personally i use Mozilla or Konquerer Web Browser secure as the Pentagon, and of course open source. Better still switch to Linux |
