sounds like oakey was pretty good. i might have to reconsider seeing him at the vic in a couple weeks.
Omega_Blue
a couple days late but i just remembered this last night... oakey played some remix of schiller - das glockenspiel too. just some fyi.

god damn i had heard oakey had gotten kind of prog/boring lately so i passed on this.

grr i feel stupid now, especially since i still can't go to clubs or anything haha

oakey was a huge dissapointment for me  i don't think i ever heard such a crap set with the most commercial tracklist ever! the only difference from listening to the same tunes on the radio was the atmosphere. to be honest i was impressed with the overall vibe, the crowd, the setting etc... musicwise it was just horrible! i didn't have high expectations after hearing him perform previously although i still had some hope... but now i've definitly made up my mind - i'm done with oakenfold. :whip:

oh man.. you gotta be kidding. you are like the only person who didnt like it. what the hell. the set was awesome, as was the vibe. i have never had more respect for oakey in my life. its almostl ike he is making a comeback, which would be awesome. whatever man, obviously you must have been to plastered to hear the music, cause it was an awesome night, music and all...

i think oakenfold may have "commercialized" the set for the generally unsavvy summerfest crowd. but wtf, who cares? 12 bucks to get in to see oakey tear it up! it was difficult to find a decent place, but i eventually did just to the left of the audio booth behind the bleachers. room to dance! but idiot people kept going back and forth...find a place and stay put! i was disappointed that he left 1/2 hour early....i was so dehydrated at that point from the beer and dancing, that I needed a break....overall great time...:tongue2
Omega_Blue
you know really to be honest oakey was a little dissapointing for me too... I mean, him being a legend and everything... I figured he'd be better, but it just seemed like he wasn't too interested throughout the whole set.... and as for the commercialized music- yeah... not so good... but then again I'm not into vocal trance that much (i.e. southern sun, beautiful day, etc.) I saw ferry last year, he was much better... meh.

I guess as you might surmise from the tiesto thread as well.. I'd think the biggest lesson you can learn, not just limited to dj'ing, is don't go in with massive expectations to these big nights. He's a legend because at one point he was good - but he's not good now because he is a legend. Although some nights he might be better than others.. then throw in individual taste... AACK :nervous:

too much.

I still woulda loved to have seen oakie, suck or no suck.

i'm curious... what songs did you hear that you thought were commercial?
