you people need to get a life. The man is making money with his work and what are you all doing?

I enjoyed his older stuff a lot more, but he is an amazing producer. I might not like his new album as much, but it still takes a great amount of talent to make the tracks he does.

he does sound different then he used to, that doesn't really mean a horrible downfall, just not your sytle anymore

Same as tiesto if ya ask me, just a different sound that's all

Maybe BT is just trying to be creative, without being innovative the genre is likely to get stuck in a rut.

Either he is creative or we are knocking him for producing the same old stuff.

When you've had the success he has had it is hard to come back and live up to your previous expectations

OK, the most disjointed post ever but just a few thoughts

hey, that's what TA is about- expressing your opinion.

I personally take a lot of stock in guys like BT and van dyk
going downhill... not that they won't wake up and start making
good music again though.

Yes, BT has gone south and I believe he is near a downfall if he has not hit it yet. BT was always a mouthy producer worthy of some brilliant moments, his IMA album showed he could do it. I believe BT went south when he agreed to produce the n'sync album, nothing is wrong with producing mainstream acts, it made people like adamski, a pile of money but then BT makes emotional technology which was an unemotionaless bore then sings on an collab with Tiesto. BT has gone in the exact same direction as PvD, they are both talented producers who have produced some of the great moments in electronic music but they are trying to go too mainstream and both have lost the emotion of their music. BT was great with godspeed and others because they were emotional tracks, I don't know about others but I got that sense of emotion when I heard the tracks. BT has lost that, same with a lot of A list producers, Mike, L-Vee. Most of these people are caught up making stuff for others and making $$$$$ (nothing wrong with $$$$ but I think it becomes wrong when your music suffers). L-Vee, Mike, PvD, Armin, BT all were better when they made emotional music and you could sense that but now all rather just go mainstream and lose that emotion.

How have M.I.K.E. and L-Vee gone downhill? I believe your notion to be quite arbitrary.

Amen! They're probably working at a gas station or a Quickie mart-ish type job :P

definetely not a downfall, he is merely expanding his styles. if BT used to be able to produce quality tracks, its obvious that he can make even better tracks with improved technology. emotional technology was more poppy so it would appeal to new listeners, he will surely release something that will appeal to the old faithful listeners as well, dont fret.

said it well.

theres no doubting BT is a remarkable and incredibly talented producer, probably one of the best out there.
but just because you can make music well doesn't mean its "good"
his emotional technology album was a laugh.
his going downhill is in him being an artist, not as being a producer.
he's becoming more of a mass entertainer
but whatever, he always was a bit on the poppy side

BT is trying to expand and evolve. If you are unable to change and adapt you run the risk of going extinct! Which I feel is the problem with trance. It is not really evolving...and unfortunately it might just fade away.

Just because you dislike his new style DOES NOT make his music bad. Why don't you attempt to produce some music yourself.. and everytime you do something that people don't like... they will dog you for it. I still happen to find BT's music to be enjoyable.. so its just a matter of opinions here. Just 'cause one changes their style does not mean they've reached a "downfall," per se. Rather, they want to expand their musical horizons as musicians. That's how I see it.. :P

And so you have too much time on your hands, sitting there writing generalizations like that on a webforum like this.

BT sucks nowadays, he has moved far beyond what he used to be, in a negative way. Definately, everything from Somnabulist later stuff just plain simply sucks.

However I am still listening, almost on a weekly basis to Dreamin, Flaming June, Mercury And Solace, which all are pure class and in fact quite amazing... Hmm, maybe it's me who needs to buy some new records/get some new music and expand MY taste :D

alrite for the record; I am hip, I like any house flavour and psytrance too:)
