| Is anyone here a bartender? Im thinking of going to bartending school to get my licsense. I just turned 18 and i hope i can make a good choice by doing this because people have told me theres a somewhat good amount of money involved. But how much money are we talking about? Tell me as much as you can, cause u guys would have alot to do with the choice im making |

| I think bartending would be a cool job. Its hard though knowing a ton of drink recipes but I'm sure you would pick up on them. I've never actually been to a bar (too young) but I've heard that bartenders get a lot of tips. Free drinks for yourself too I guess! :D |

well..im not a bartender, but i see a small problem.
u r 18. living @ twillo...that is US..where age is 21 if im right.. So that could be a problem
other than that. club Bartenders here mage low wages, like 6 bucks an hour, but then get tipped like nuts.
now say u wanna go more upscale n say be a real bartender at a bar or hotel, now they get payed more, but not tipped as much.
I worked @ the Westin Calgary and the bartender got payed like $16 an hour, didnt make many drinks or anything during the day, and doesnt get tipped much at all. |

| Dood Bartending would be a cool job to have but only if it is something you wanna do for a long time if you are thinking of going to school for it. I dunno how much bartending school costs but if it is a lot make sure this is really what you wanna do. |

| I dunno how much they cost there, but bartending courses here(calgary) are fairly cheap(like 200) |

| You have to be 18 to be a bartender in the states. Everyone knows theres thousands of hotels, hundreds of bars and clubs here in New York. Im not looking to make a career out of it. Its not what i see myself doing when i turn 21. Going to a school here is about $250. No big deal, ive lost that kinda money before. I just wanted to know what its like from a bartenders point of view and from a people who know stuff about it. Looks like im one step closer guys. Thanks |

I bartended for a little while....It was awsome money I could work 3 days a week and make as much as some of my friends did working 5 days.....I would bring home around 700$ a week....now I worked at a bar that spun top 40 and Hip hop. I have friends who have worked at clubs and didn't make as much....why...uhmmmmm..lets see people don't tip as well when all they order is bottled water..hehehe ....
Advantages - Good money
You save alot of money
girls dig bartenders
Things that suck - No weekends off - blah
Your job is your social life
can't find a g/f cause none of them trust bartenders |
