Yeah, yeah, don't call me a nerd.

I don't know if any of you are into road racing bikes, but I just bought myself a new Bianchi. It's a 2003 double Veloce (aluminum frame). Are any other TA's into road racing/road bikes?

Here's a pic of my new beauty.

im not a hardcore biker, but since the weather's been nice ive been taking my old bike out on trails around my apt.

ive also been biking to campus as well, cos it beats driving and i get exercise and near-death experiences when i zoom in front of oncoming traffic! :haha:

Why would you be a nerd for being into cycling?

My dad is a huge bike nut. He'd seriously kill himself if he wouldn't be able to ride. He has more money invested in bikes than his car.

I guess not everyone is into cycling, especially when it comes to dropping more than $1000 for a bike. I think it's an amazing sport with some of the best endurance athletes around. To me something like the Tour de France or Giro di Italia is like running a marathon everyday for 20 days. It's pretty amazing what shape the top cyclists in the world are in.

The veloce I'm getting is actually the last year it was made in Italy. Unfortunatly I have to wait until Wednesday to get it because it has to be shipped in from the warehouse. Waiting sucks.

Agreed, you gotta be in peak physical condition, and im just biking for the hell of it now.. get some cardio aerobic workouts and just seeing what trails are out there

I live in Ohio, and one advantage of living here has been their extensive "rails to trails" program, where they convert old rail lines into multi-use bike paths. I can ride virtually anywhere in the state on bike paths and not have to worry about sharing the roadway with mean people driving cars.

Here's a kind of outdated map, but you get the idea
