I've been waiting a few months to finally post this.
I've been trying to give it the benefit of the doubt but I gotta say enough is enough! IS IT ME OR DOES ALL THE LATEST TRANCE STUFF ALL SOUND THE SAME?
the mark norman's, octagen, nu nrg, and I don't know the other names but whatever names they call themselves, it's all the same stuff!
first of all, you can tell alot of these new producers use software to make these un-original tunes. The sound quality is flat and has no meat on the bottom end.
secondly, they all try to be wannabe ferry corstens of the past only difference bein that there is no originality. alot of the newer dudes use a very generic bassline, very generic hi hat, very generic synth, very generic everything! Even the main synth lead is almost identical, man if that wasn't identical it would be the same exact tune! It's as if they all share the same tracks!
Before, trance producers would shape and mold their own tracks. Each stab, each hi hat, the basslines, the synth, the leads, etc; indivudually they had a custom sound to it. Now you can tell they have been picked from some music making software that dozens have access to.
when once 80 percent of my tunes consisted of trance, now 90 percent of it consist of house and maybe 10 percent of it trance.
what is goin on? do I have to get into producing just so I can enjoy some decent trance again? :)

Here we go again... bunch of people have post threads like this.
Well, I`m one of many people that agree that trance 2004 is not so good like other years, Nu-nrg this year is not so good with remixes but Mark norman is definitively owning us...
:o
Phantom Manor, Rush and other remixes like Love comes again.
Listen to these and learn.

I must say i'm not a fan of trance any more.
some of the progressive stuff the likes of chable produce is good and i do buy it, but i was really shocked at how bad the stuff AVB was playing in his essential mix was.it was terrible.
the days of binary finary seem like a life time ago.
listen to techno it's much better:toothless |

Yeah, I started noticing how trance a year ago started to slow down, then this year it got really bad...I haven't heard a standout trance track since Sublime, and that was quite a while ago.
I don't think trance is dead...it's just harder and harder to find good tracks. |

yes I agree with the most of you. Trance has been goin down hill fast in the year, or possibly even over a year.
It's as if all these new trance producers use the same "How To Make A Trance Tune" all in one kit!
if you look at the big picture as to who's behind all the different tracks, it's the younger "teeny bopper" type that is focusing in on this genre "trance". Alot of the older more mature dudes that more capable of "creativity" are doin the different stuff such as techno, electro, house, etc... or it's a blend of different genre's. |

a few years back, trance had producers such as tandu, fridge, gizeh, and of course corsten, Mike diericx, original bonzai crew, etc. These guys had their own style and you can tell who was the producer / remixer just by listening to the intro beats.
these guys carefully "shaped" and molded" each track of each tune. You can hear the extra care and effort in every tune they put together.
these days, it's just quick generic "slap together" stuff, very "assembly line" stuff. Really sad to see where this genre is goiing. |

| i think its funny when people use examples of tunes as what trance should sound like and i think its the exact type of tune that is hurting it... |
