Why is Tiesto so erratic all of a sudden?

I'm mostly referring to his new album "in my memory". In my opinion the only good tracks are Flight 643, Urban Train and Magik Journey. We all knew Flight 643 and Urban train before the album, so the only real new gem is Magik Journey.
Magik Journey is an amazing track, bringing me back to the days of Kayama Painters - Far from over, The Quest - C sharp, Binary Finary -1999 were the kings of trance, great uplifting .
But besides Magik Journey, his other new stuff I think is sub-par. It's like Tiesto did Magik Journey, then handed the album off to DJ Jean to complete =)
How can he produce almost all great tracks then mediocre stuff? Doesn't he LISTEN to it? |

| I actually like Lethal Industry. But he has produced so much good,"older", stuff (1998-200), still he didn't include anything of it on the new album. Strange.... |

i COMPLETELY agree. If I wasn't scared enough, i would say his album is SH|T.
no wait. i'll say it:
TIESTO'S ALBUM IS SH|T
Tiesto primarily stands for the production\promotion of trance. I LOVED all the trance songs on his album. Magik Journey, Urban Train, Flight 643, and slightly that Close 2 You Remake.
But WTF is with all this ambient stuff? Ambient and vocal? nothing and just vocal? damn, i'd understand if maybe 2 of the tracks were this mellow, but 60% of the album is just full of WISH WOSH WEESH WOOSH sounds. I did enjoy Dallas 4PM tho (ambient)
to put this into context:
It's like ordering a Guns N Roses CD, getting some NICE rock tunes, and then getting Barber's Adagio for Strings. Sure it's a nice song, but Gun n Roses stand for rock, DON'T blow yourself up by entering different genres which you don't stand for.
if i wanted this kind of ambient/vocal stuff, i would've gone out and bought a Sarah McLaughlin CD. If i want trance, i'd go for a Tiesto CD. But this w3rk he has provided us with changes my mind. It's back to trusting Ferry Corsten. |

Please quit insulting the god of production!?! hah I know I know, the album could of been much more impressive, I'm gonna have to agree with you guys. I think this is the 4th thread to go on about how boring it is.
I can't believe no one is making reference to the many portishead rip-offs?!?
However to contradict you guys, I do love "Lethal Industry" as well as "Obsession". They are both tracks which grew on me huge. I find that the lyrics in "Battleship Grey" are garbage, you can totally tell they were written by someone who can't speak english well. haha Or whatever, they are crap.
I do enjoy the album tho, I think it's weird no doubt, but have trust in the man, he is my fav entertainer (oohh max graham a close second) and he will shine in Toronto! Who's coming to Guv? hah

| Tiesto, like many of his fellow DJ's, has taken the backlash against trance too seriously. |

*another thread about tiesto's new album* :)
well - i know what you all mean but i think it shows the variety of tiesto...
flight 643 is pretty progressive , while other trackz are more chill-out style and magik journey is uplifiting trance (damn , i love this one - hope to see a transa remix)
i didnt expect that from tiesto either...
like i said before - the album remind me a little of chiacne style :)
but anyway - i think its pretty good album - its grow in you...
the first time i heard him i hated most of the tracks but now i think all of them are pretty good... nice to chill...:) |

personally, I never thought tiesto was a super producer like the schiller team or tandu or ferry corsten; I always thought he was OK.
Take ferry corsten's album "out of the blue" and compare it to tiesto's "in my memory", sorry guys, no comparison. Compare it to tandu's "nirwana" aka Ayla, uh, nice try tiesto.
But you know what, the album has 4-5 class tunes, "flight 643, close to you, urban train, etc, etc, the rest are just fillers but hey, isn't that how most albums are any ways? 3-5 good tunes and the rest FILLERS? at this point, it's all about CASHING IN for tiesto. |

| let's hope the european release will be better, as far as i know some of the tracks will be replaced by other new ones... |

| Personally I think the japanese release of In My Memory is AMAZING and I think Tiesto did a great job with it. Give the man a break, he's doing what he loves, and I'm loving it :D |

| I think the album is very creative and on higher level than his pervious work. I don't think the album is for everybody... because you have to understand the music. Every track seems to carry a different emotion... and I think that makes it a masterpiece. The 2 songs I like the least on the album is Close To You & Flight 643. All the other tracks are well thought out... and dive deep into your intellect... if you have the ability to let yourself free. He's taking his production to a higher level... and leaving the lesser intelligent people behind. Don't say you hate it, because you don't understand it. |
