| a perfect reply to a post would be one which inspires ppl to make it better hehe. so the mistakes are pointed out, BUT the track is giving loads of pos feedback. so its not all negative. coz thats just depressin and the arsist is unlikely to be inspired :) hehe wow this is getting in depth. i agree with pretty much everything thats been said, how cool :) |

| Yeh you're right at that point. Partly ;) The criticism might indeed be a bit demotivating BUT that's why it should be constructive. Newbies to production must be pointed what is wrong, so they can improve it and HEAR for themselves what's good and what's not. And if they can't handle the criticism, they should not post. Of course you must be careful what you say in your comments because a lot of personal thoughts arise when e.g. a melody is reviewed. Hence the use of "IMO"... I should stop typing now. |

hehe wicked thread. got me thinking. maybe ppl will post replies more often now and also think carefully about what they write. Most of the replies ive had on here have been amazingly constructive and inspiring at the same time already :) hope everyone else finds this :D
Jay ur posts are always really helpfull :) |

i know it's been a while since i posted any material in here (due to factors out of my control) but back when i did, the way it worked was that the more people that you gave feedback, the more feedback you would recieve. i find it very sad that people actually post, without having given any feedback to anyone, expecting feedback on their own tracks.
you cannot just take from the community, things don't work like that :) |

YAY sticky this!!
Im loving all the points raised. I, like Mike mentioned earlier, find that I cannot sometimes comment because I find it difficult to be constructive (mood-wise i think ... maybe I'm not a constructive person:rolleyes: )
I also dont have a lot of time to write replies as I spend most of my spare time actually writing new music... and I dont get a lot of spare time!! BUT I do reply and give criticism where I can :p
Anyway... I think this thread is very cool and I hope it will inspire ppl to become more critical when it comes to the music produced in this forum.;) |

this is the dilemma, and probably why it seems that higher profile producers in here get more replies. its very easy to say "thats very cool" or something such like.. but i would hate it if people left feedback on one of my tracks just saying "its ".. if it's , why is it ? and how could i un- it?
stuck :) |

the way i see it..
it's a promotion forum, you try to let everyone hear how good you are and promote yourself..
if your good you get feedback, if your not you get advise and tips how to become good.
now this is just something you can't really force..like telling everyone, review all tunes NOW or get banned or something.
for me i like to give feedback or advise to people, i like this part of the forum most, since most of my music in the playlist i like, comes from here :) |

| You got a good point massive, but you cant expect us to review others tune who comes in here once in a while and post " hi this is my new track, review it please " , and dont and wont give feedbacks on other artists work. In other words, they realy dont give a . |

Great Thread. I loved reading it. Remember me when you are famous! :D... I supported you on day 1!! :stongue:
But in reality, a lot of points mentioned here are definately... I really hate people with 0 posts in here whatsoever, coming into the boards, with their post saying
"hey, check out my new track at www.soundclick.com/DJ_Ultracooltrancemaster.html ... Better get this track quick.. cuz it's going platinum yo!"
Then when they don't get any response, they bump their thread like 10 times until 1 person replies... saying "hey, i'm sorry to say this, but I think the kick was really weak.. the bass could have been better"
And then the newbie goes "WTF man! You don't know nothing about producing... This track is going to get released and it's going to be a top-seller in the dance charts"
and then I just go like
I think a very reasonable restriction could be like you are only allowed to post the same amount of threads in this section of the forum as the amount of replies you've had in this forum... Because of course we have non-producers who post feedback here as well... I just grow sick of those who want to take from the community but not give...
my 2 cents |
