Does anybody use firewall software? I don't really know much about it all, but now that I'm in a 24hr preminant connection I'm thinking it might be a good idea since the machine's online all the time. Is it worth it? I don't run Linux or anything, just Win2k. But like I said it's connected pretty much 24/7 because it acts as an internet gateway for another machine.
Can anybody recommend any good software or am I being too paranoid? Also how would it affect my system/connection performance (if at all, but remember I'm only 56k).

| Yeah Blackice is pretty good. just get the demo and heard over to astalavista.box.sk to find the "modification" for it. then once you have it up and going go to http://grc.com/ and get them to check your ports and that'll tell you how safe you are. Good luck |

I use Zonealarm, too but a friend of mine said that it's not the best one. |

am using Agnitum Personal firewall, this one is very powerful !!!!!

stop pop-up

| If you have a second pc, set up linux und configure your firewall with ipchains and a seperat port forwarding. I use it and it´s the best firewall i ever used. The only problem is that you need some experience in Linux and network technologies. |
