as in Way Out West, at Avalon NYC

wazzup, so many of the NYTA's left before I did, but no one has posted a review yet??

Good turnout, though probably not as much as expected.
Place was empty when I came in at 11:30, but filled up quickly after 12:15

Avalon resident DJ Eddie Lee had things started off nicely

At 1 am, Nick Warren came on and spun a little, then Jody took over for a few tracks.
Then at 2 am, the live performance started.
During that hour, it alternated between Omi singing a few songs, and Nick+Jody playing some instrumental-only tracks.
It seemed like her voice got drowned out by the music a little, at least early on, but it did a little better later.
Very nice stuff, though I couldn't figure out exactly what "live" parts they were doing (as is the case with most live PA's for me), despite me being right up front.
At 3 am, Nick started his DJ set. I thought it was good but not great. Someone told me it wasn't upbeat enough. He played Mark Otten - Tranquility, which was cool, though maybe a little too mellow for that time.
Jody came on at 4 am, and I was feeling that more.

If I'm not mistaken, Jan Johnston was in attendance.

Eddie came back on at 5, and closed it out well.

Maybe not as many as expected, but still a good number of TA's were there - Trance@CU, NY1004, avikonen, trunks1022, and whoever else I'm forgetting; but at the end, I saw only st0w and EnigmaT

As always at Avalon, lotsa fine drunken ladies in da house :p
Like the two girls who went up on the stage during the performance (thankfully not while Omi was singing)
I think some others also went on the stage , but also got quickly whisked away. Funny how some guy went on while Nick was spinning (WOW did both the live PA and DJ sets on the stage), but managed to stay there longer.

I was there!

It was good, I was upstairs watching them do the live PA then I went down for the DJ set to dance for a while.. it was awesome!!! :D

wow about WOW........how creative:p
Trance@CU
I must say that I didn't really enjoy the show much at all. I had very high expectations and was pretty let down. I've heard separate sets from both Nick & Jody, not to mention all the amazing GU projects; but this "live PA" was rather boring. I mean it definitely had its moments, but they were few and far between. I left from bordem after the alcohol wore off... I haven't left a party @ Avalon before 5. Last night I left @ 3:30. Enough said.

I have pics; but I feel as if they are emblematic of the night on the whole, disappointing.

It wasn't good but wasn't awful but it doesn't get close to trance. Vocals were ok but drowned out.Plus there was to much mellowness in the set and was hard to dance to because of the constant breaks from a beat to just ambient slowness.

heh. Glad I was elsewhere.
NY1004
I dunno about everyone else, but I had a pretty good time. It was my first time at Avalon and I pleased. I liked what they did with the place since I was last there when it was Limelight and it wasn't too crowded. And I liked Nick and Jody's sets. Seeing Omi was pretty cool too. My friend was kind of transfixed by her singing hehe. I loved hearing Mark Otten - Tranquility and another tune which was played soon after that which I still have yet to ID. Oh well.

Great seeing Trunks1022, Trance@CU, and partyhopper!!

Went in completely without expectations and was pleasently surprised.

Decided on Fri morning that a trip to NYC was neccesary. Checked tranceaddict party planner saw the only thing good on friday was WOW at Avalon.

I was at Avalon for NYE with Sasha and the place was way to crowded. Besides I had never heard WOW live so did not know what to expect.

Must say was not dissapointed at all. Avalon has improved....though possibly lack of a huge crowd made that possible. The sound system and lightimg could still be worked on but on the whole the experince was much better than last time.

Got in at about 12:30. The music was really good throughout the night. However the vocals were kinnda drowned out by the music.

Was upstairs most of the time but came down to the front to dance for a while. Highlight of the night ....the 2 chicks dancing on top of the stage.

The last one hour after WOW finished with Eddie was awesome. Good music less crowd more place to go crazy dancing ....:)

On the whole a really fun night.
stevebutabi
did they do apollo?
trunks1022
i had an ok time. i think i've been going out way too much heh. WoW was fun at times, but had a lot of sloooow stuff. i felt bad for omi cuz she was drowned out by the music at times but nick warren and jody wisternoff kinda fixed that about 20-30 minutes in. good seeing avikonen, trance@cu, partyhopper, and ny1004.

DJ_Lord
They dropped Steve Porter - Vodka Cranberries (Sean Q6 Remix) :D

trunks1022
