1 track for a Shamanistic Ritual in class
View this Thread in Original format
Space Cadet
So Im doing project for one of my religion classes and we are doing Shamans.Anyways to spice things up we want to sort of try and re-create a shamanistic experience using some sort of EDM music. Of course the Shamanistic ritual has to do mostly with pulsing, repetetive drums but of course we dont have to stick to rigidly to that idea, I just want something that sounds sort of hypnotizing good driving bassline, nothing too hard and something that most people could possibly enjoy(remember that in this class there are probably tons of wankers that are totally ignorant and don't appreciate electronic music, so we have to try and find something that most people can at least tolerate.)
I went through my archive of singles and these are a few of the tracks I thought might suit the situation:
Katana-Silence(amtic mix)
James Holden-Break in the clouds
Nu Nrg-Dreamland(I think this might be a bit too much for some people in class to handle and I don't know if its too melodic for my purpose..But def has a great hypnotising quality to it
Paul van Dyk_For an Angel(e Werk Mix)
Tim Deluxe-Mundaya(holiday Inn Mix)Has some tribal feel to it so thats why im listing it as a possibility..Good song too
and finally
Energy 52-Cafe Del Mar(Three n One Mix)
So what do u guys think? Which one should I go with? Remember I can only play 1 track...Or do you guys have any better suggestions?
Thanks for reading this long ass thread and thnks for the help..

Definitely go with some tribal. I don't think that Dreamland would fit into this honestly :P

Go straight to the source:

The Nommos - Djembe

Goa Gil is commonly referred to as a "techno shaman", so who better to go to for an electronic shamanic experience? Djembe is loaded with African drums and has a pounding beat and an addictive melody, how can you go wrong?!

I really recommend Rouzbeh Delavari - 020227.
