Just wondered what the deal with them is :p

1998, 1999 and 2000 are all amazing tracks... did all they ever do is create one track and then remix it every year?

Also where are they now?

dont know, according to discogs the track niterider was released a few years ago but i havent heard it.

http://www.discogs.com/release/21410

according to discogs it is Ricky Garnt who is behind the name. others say that Matt Laws is in there as well. they could have recorded other stuff under a different namem but none that i know of. i dont think they have, otherwise it would probably be "general knowledge" since 1998 is such a classic.
montana
binary finary = matt laws (also with ricky grant in 1998)
and actually, 1999 & 2000 can't be counted as real tracks as the remixers remixed 1998 and the tracks was released as 1999 in 99 and 2000 in 2000
the "original mix" of 2000 that is found on a cdm released on orbit records is the original version of 1998, just labled so it'd fit nicely with the other tracks
(http://www.discogs.com/release/26733)

but, the all the original works he did was 1998, zapya* , anthemic part1, anthemic part2, niterider, about time**, cryogen***

*b-side to the first 12" that 1998 appeared on
**b-side to 12" with the pvd mix of 1998
***b-side to the 1999 remixes

funny thing, i've read this somewhere on pvd's site, paul remixed the track for positiva, but aquarius records liked the remix so much so they bootlegged the remix and pressed it. i'm maybe wrong about the label
also, 1998 was release #98 for positiva

edit, altered a thing
edit2, added a thing

They didn't remix it every year. It's the same track and was originally named 1998. Subsequent remixes by other producers over the next couple years were released as 1998,1999 or 2000 depending on when they were put out. And yes, they have a track called Niterider which is quite nice although not as anthemic as 1998. It also featured a Ca-Lo remix which takes it into deeper, tribally territory. In addition they did Cryogen, which appeared on the b-side of one of the many 199x presses. I believe there were other b-side tracks but I have yet to hear any. Discogs probably mentions it, and also would list their various remixes which range from good to excellent.

edit ^ what he said :o

Thanks for that... so in fact Matt Laws only produced 1998... and 1999 & 2000 were just other people's remixes? How come they aren't labelled Binary Finary - 1999 (x's remix) for example?

Also, montana... where you say...

"the "original mix" of 2000 is the original version of 1998, just labled so it'd fit"

does this mean basically that 2000 (orginal mix) = 1998?

Thanks for the info guys

Are any of their other songs worth checking out?

for the first question, uhhm, i have no idea actually, the gouryella remix has been labled like this binary finary - 1998 ('99 gouryella remix), i think it's the labels that decided that.

and second, yes

also, cryogen & niterider is decent tracks

Check out their remixes, particularly these two:

UKW - Hypnotic (Binary Finary Remix)
Arrakis - The Spice (Binary Finary Remix)

1998 was an ok track. It was better when Matt Darey remixed it. It was the when PvD remixed it.

1999 and 2000 were basically rereleases. 1999 was the 99 release with Gouryella and Kaycee remixes, and 2000 was the 00 release with DuMonde remix. There is no original mix for 1999 or 2000, it would just be 1998.

Lizard is certainly similar and I haven't heard that Future Breeze track, but the Parker & Clind and Futura Legend ones certainly don't "rip off" Binary Finary.
