| Docks used to be a gr8 club back in the day.......i'm glad to hear they are making renovations and what not...I personally would probably check this out, liking the new logo too :p |

I thought this was supposed to be a godskitchen start in canada.
I have been to many godskitchen events and this looks like a lack lustre attempt.
I have 3 suggestions
1) Instead of a hiphop and urban room start a funky room they like they have in the UK. Bring over UK funky Djs like the trophey twins and rob tissera.
2) Bring over some good djs associated with the Gk clubs.

hell even mistress barabara.
but oakenjoke and danny tengalia dont get me wrong tengalia is good but he is not part of the gods kitchen sound.
3) I hope they put alot of money into to the cool decorations like they do in england. Nothing like a 50 foot inflatbale submarine overhead while your pilling

Canada & the US is a far different type of market than the UK .. and from the looks of it, they're taking the approach cautiously to test the waters..

fair enough being cautious. But dont also give up a good format.
A funky room in the same place as trance is a good idea. Hip hop and urban though blah stupid idea. Two very differnt markets and two very differnt people that go. Why not add a country and western room as well just to really add to the diversity.
Also bring djs that represent what they have to offer and are known for. Not what everybody else is offerning. To really stand out in toronto and make a succuss of it they have to be differnt. Bringing in fergie and eddie halliwell in my opinion would set them apart.
But then again from my experiences over seas they think that north americas scene is still very much in its infancy ( which i would i can see thier argument based on the clubbing level in the UK).
Perhaps they figure that canada is not ready for thier scene just yet. sorta like building it up. I am a bit disappointed thouhg espeacially when you hear about GK in australia or in even istanbul they usually have a similar line to that scene in the UK with just a few locals added in. But then again i suppose australia is more similar to britain then we are and istanbul is part of europe
so..... who knows

Seems a shame to me that they spent all that money on renos, but haven't gotten their head around how to take advantage of the GodsKitchen brand.
The last GodsKitchen event I went to ( in Miami) had as a line-up: Crystal Method, Armin, and M.I.K.E. It just seemed like a better GodsKitchen experience than having some bimbos dance for us while a former porn star spins...
Different marketing spin, same Gino club - as far as I'm concerned. |

well... give it time perhaps. Maybe those guys in Manchester were right about us still being in our scene infancy.
I find it sad that the other commonwealth nations get fergie and marco V and BK.
I told everyone that signing the damn free trade agreement would make us too much like the Yanks now look what happend.

Those damn assusies are Aving it and we are stuck with some beech bimbos
but.. its still better then many of the alternatives

Seems to me that this flyer isnt reaching out to people who for instance visit a System or even a Guvernment for their weekend outings. Its more for the guy who listens to z103 to hear the latest dj sammy track and thinks glowsticks are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Dont get me wrong, The Docks have thrown some kick ass parties, and im sure they will continue to do so. But if they want to earn the respect of the TRUE party people, bring in a Danny T., Digweed, etc. and it will happen. You shouldnt have to resort to bringing in nudee models and the hoe train or whatever theyre called to attract business in the Toronto scene. |

Ya wanna hear awesome Trance???... then go to Room 19 (Kennedy & Steeles)where my DJ pal Anthony spins...Its not fancy like the 'new' Docks but the sound & lites are pretty good and Anthony always drops wicked Trance beats...
I read the descriptions here & the "GodsKitchen" bla bla bla hype but there's nothing that interests me at all:( ...oh well
