Maybe it's just me, but I consider the '99 Oakenfold World Tour the best series of mixes I have ever heard, even to this day.

nah mate youre not alone.

My favourite mixes from the Oakie World Tour:

Havana, Cuba
Rojam, Shanghai
Liverpool University

Though I would find it tough to leave out Creamfields, and the only reason I leave out Lotherton Hall because Pete Tong was so good that night too.

Among those some of my other all time favourite EM's are:

Paul Oakenfold Goa Essential Mix
Paul Van Dyk EM 1997-04-20
Paul Oakenfold @ Creamfields '98
Pete Tong Cream 6th Birthday '98
Sasha @ Alexandria Palace NYE '98
Pete Tong @ Lotherton Hall '99

You can probably guess, but I started getting into trance music in 97, I discovered essential mix in '98. After 99 I sort of lost time to listen to it for a while and took me a while to get back into trance, so I haven't really listened to any well enough to find any since that I can regard among my favourites.

I would like to add though that Portishead did a great one in '95 if anyone likes that kinda thing.
Lebezniatnikov
Oakie @ the Rojam...
Zabiela 2004
Sasha @ Creamfields

and so correct me if I'm wrong, but Danny Howell's 28 July 2002 mix was amazing... even if it wasn't necessarily either trance or prog. First one I'd ever heard, and still possibly my favorite.
Orko
Oakenfold @ space 99
Oakenfold Goa mixes
Oakenfold in australia 99
Sasha 99
Sasha @ glastonbury 03

Ive heard tonnes more, but i think those are pretty much the cream of the crop...

oh oh, and Nick Warren, and of them, all class!!!

I cant believe somebody said AVB's EM, its terrible!!! i love the guy but he could have done much much better with two hours at his disposal.

common armin, you can do better than that!

and the Tiesto 2001 mix wasnt all that special either, again he could have done better

OMG, you said it brother!!! this is an amazing mix, an "eclectic" essential mix and Tong reminds us over and over again during the show. a perfect chill out set.

i forgot to add one more to my list.

Sasha @ homelands 99, the man has never played trance like that before, or since then. it was actually really upbeat, which is odd for sasha

^--that oakey rojan set was really inspirational with getting me really into edm..

also, the sasha/digweed delta heavy set was great... that tour came through indy and they rocked the place.

g&d in 2003 was also amazing.
