Well hell, at this point we could find a friggin' mountain of Plutonium covered in a blanket of dead bodies. Someone would have an excuse like, "Well, there's no viable delivery method" or "Those materials are naturally occuring, those people shouldn't have gotten so close to radioactive material" or whatever excuse wants to be made.
Imokurok made a good point about missing the bigger picture. Sarin gas has been found in Iraq. Where there is smoke, there's generally fire. I hope this will lead to something more substantial, but in the meantime I think it's foolish to write it off simply because they haven't found some sophisticated weapons plant literally churning out gas filled artillery shells out by the minute. Hell, the fact that the thing exploded sends a chill down my spine! |
Okay, if there's a "fire" from this smoke, then so be it. I'll reserve judgement until then.
But c'mon, you guys keep claiming that some folks here are shifting the goalposts on you, and I'm simply telling you that's not the case. We're after the stockpiles of chem., biol., and nukes , and we've always been after the stockpiles, which seemingly have dwindled down to just chemical WMD now stockpiles. And until we find stockpiles, and given the fact that hot lead after hot lead has turned out to be false, you'll have to excuse the public for being a little incredulous at this time. |

I agree, the public has reason to be skeptical, however we should not be foolish in ignoring the writing on the wall either. Admitedly, there is not enough hard evidence to say "Case and Point", but it's annoying to hear people laughing off each incremental piece of evidence that shows otherwise simply because it's not a big enough gorilla. The public wants a sensational story, and until they get one, I'm afraid they will continue to discount everything else along the way. |

Just heard it reported that Reuters is reporting a story of an artillery shell found in Iraq filled/loaded with Sarin gas. I haven't found the news story yet--anybody heard this yet? I literally just heard it 2 minutes ago. CNBC is reporting on it now. |
Wow it only took them that much time, geez..with all the BS CIA has run over the past 3 decades, they certainly took alot of time for this BS story. |

It was well-known in the intelligence circles that the CIA has had scant ground-level intelligence in that time frame you've given, and have unfortunately relied too heavily on secondary and satellite evidence to support their claims. This is one of the key issues the 9/11 investigative panel on both sides of the aisle have agreed on that needs drastic improvement. |

Saddam had them as late as 1998 and used them against his own people. This is documented fact. The hundreds of thousands of bodies in mass graves are further evidence substantiating the claim. So yes, I believe Iraq had WMD's, in fact I know it. What happened to them after UN inspectors were kicked out after 1998 is what concerns me the most, as I honestly don't think they were destroyed. Sorry I can't be as intelligizent as you. |

But on an more important note, perhaps we should hire terrorists to be weapons inspectors. Apparentely they're doing a better job than the UN or the US military. |
lol i was thinking the same when i heared it on the news :p

"Washington officials say the significance of the find is that some chemical shells do still exist in Iraq, and it's thought that fighters there may be upping their attacks on U.S. forces by using such weapons....Everybody knew Saddam had chemical weapons, the question was, where did they go. Unfortunately, everybody jumped on the offramp and said 'well, because we didn't find them, he didn't have them,'" said Fox News military analyst Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney.
"I doubt if it's the tip of the iceberg but it does confirm what we've known ... that he [Saddam] had weapons of mass destruction that he used on his own people," Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told Fox News. "This does show that the fear we had is very real. Now whether there is much more of this we don't know, Iraq is the size of the state of California." |
