| just go get one of those $50 players from Wallmart. You won't have trouble playing any format. |

From personal experience and I don't know why . those cheap $60 dvd players that play every format seem to be pretty good. I had a samsumg that died on me (took it in for repairs and wanted $100) to fix. Had Sony but it was too old to play DVD+R so I got a cheap APEX from walmart and so far, almost 2 years no problems . It doesn't even skip my scratched dvds.
Maybe I just got lucky but if it died tomorrow, I only paid $60 for it.
It's hard to tell these days (unless you go for high end electronics) They're all pretty much the same. DVD players don't have that many moving parts so even the cheap crap tends to be much better. |

Tell ya what I hate....
the fact that they are making everything smaller and slimmer
theres no way that a video-camera that you could fit in your mouth (not that I'd put it there) would do the same job as an $80,000 movie camera.
and as for DVD players, well, we all know how "slim" they are getting.
the next one will be paper thin and the vibrations from the disc will shatter the whole thing!
well... maybe im exagerating a little bit :toothless |

ummmm... no.
Yea thoes 50 doller dvd players will play most formats, but expect skips on burnt discs. VCD especially, you need a good prog/scan dvd player, like a sony 150$$$ not that much. DVD-R too, get something thats going to work right, not just work. |

I dunno about DvD players really, I just use my PS2. Its been pretty damn reliable and doesnt do the skipping thing like I find when I watch dvd's on other players.

yeah... there are so many issues when it comes to playing burnt ones
bad discs, bad players, bad originals, bad burners, bad programs...

APEX is total .
JVC, Sony, and Panasonic make solid reliable players. Sonys play +- DVD-Rs so thats what I ended up with. I love it. Ive had the toshibas, magnavox, philips, samsungs returned quite frequently, plus all of mine have broken of those brands.
stay away from Cyberhome, magnavox, philips, APEX, samsung, RCA, sylvania, and Mintek. Also audiovox and amphion. |
