| I personally dont like mp3 devices that requires you to plug to your pc to get the music you want, Which is why MP3/CD players are better, Like I said before, All you need to do is burn a CD with tons of mp3s on them and then you can play it when ever your in the mood for lets say a CD with tons of live sets. :) |

| People have a right to chose what mp3 player they want but thats just my opinion. :) |

| A live set may require space up to 200 megs, so you can't fit more than 4-6 long sets on a cd. Now I record music to my portable MD and when I'm on the move I have tons of disks with me that are annoying to carry around. In my case the Nomad Jukebox would be the answer, and I don't have a problem with plugging the player to a PC. Everyone has got their own needs, there isn't a single solution. peace. |

| Lets put it this way, Having an MP3/CD player would be you have more mp3s then what the jukebox can store, As long as you get one of those big CD wallet thingies that can hold 100 of CDs or less. :) |

a mp3 player of 64 mb is not an option for me... low capacity. just for 12 songs..(or 1/4 part of a mix)
The Creavite Nomad Jukebox is a great piece of hardware. 6 GB is just wow.. but it is expensive. around 1150 dutch guilders. and in a dutch review it is said (don't know for sure), that the thing is slow. changing of songs and loading songs.
And both have ID-tag !!!!!
But the mp3 players is easier. has no id-tag (they are comming!!) You just take a burned cd full with mp3'zz and just listen to it.
And they aren't that expensive....
I know I want to buy a mp3 discman. but don't know which one. There aren't many mp3 discman's. But still, the choice is difficult. :) |

| I'm telling you this is a great deal, It will play mp3s in folders as well cause it will display the folders as an album number, The only one issue with the mp3 cd players is that you can't fast forward or rewind mp3s, only audio cds, But you an select the mp3s on the player as if they were audio tracks, the only thing to get used to is when you put an mp3 cd on, it displays all the mp3 files as track numbers, say you have an cd with 100 mp3s, It will display 100 tracks, Which is a bit hard to get used to cause you can't remember all 100 of them, hahaha, But anyways, they way they are on the player, It seems to play the mp3s in ABC order from there filenames but put them in track numbers, for example, If an mp3 file starts with the letter A or a number at the front, that one would be track 1. :) |

I was just looking it mp3/cd players and minidisks just before I came to this site. I read lots of posts about the philips portable mp3/cd player, and the general responses were not good. There were complaints about the time it takes for the device to load an mp3 and play it. Another one was that because the player does not support ID3 tags, that it was very difficult to remember which song was in folder 4 file 2 (example). The playing time for fresh batteries is moderate, but could be better. The last complaint about the device was that it was rather large. People said that they could not fit the player in any type of pocket.
After reading up on other portable mp3/cd players (Sony which will be released in March 2001, Napa etc..) I came across the idea of getting a MiniDisc player. They are very versitle, small, and have digital displays showing the title of the song you are listening to.
I read posts about transfering mp3s to MD player. I would like to know if this must be done in real time, or does the actual md play an mp3 file. If this is the case, more than 100 songs can be stored on a simple minidisc...
I do not think this is the case, otherwise everyone would be using minidiscs... |

| Yeah, But I dont care about any of those problems with it, The important thing is that it can play mp3 cds, that all I care about. :) |

The most important thing to a mp3-discman is to play mp3'zz
But instead of the Philips, you have the lennox.
http://www.mp3cdspeler.nl/index/3portable.jpg
here is a picture of it.
But with the lennox, you can fast forward and rewind in a mp3 (good for a mix). You can't do that with the Philips.
But then, lennox ain't all it.
I'll keep on searching untill i'll find the best one.
All the mp3 discman's that are now available are almost "the same". They can all do the same things..that makes the choice even more difficult. |

How do you insert a picture..for all i can do is just insert a link to the picture, but not the picture it self.
How do you do that? |

MD is a solution, but it can only contain 74 or 80 mins of music per disc (no problem when recording cds, but i have more mp3s than cds)... AND if u wanna have a good quality sound, ull have to get urself a soundcard with an optical digital out...
on the other hand, MD is very small & u can record like anything on it
like i said before, if u want smth that plays mp3s, DONT buy a mp3-man, they r way too low on memory and they r way too expensive. mp3-cd-mans r THE solution, but they r kinda HUGE, cds r big, so so will the players be...
so lez wait till Sony (or some1 else) brings out a mdrecorder/player that also supports data & we'll be saved... :)
untill then, my basic audio-only md player will do just fine :) |
