i presume you are talking about your MP. if you are then you have proved my point about people dont appreciate the difference betwen local, national, european etc. |

I did vote labour in local and national last time, simply cos I didn't want the tories in power, and i'd do it again, If i felt the lib dems or others had a chance to win then I might vote for them, but I dont see it happening anytime soon, as much as I'd like to. On this I'm Pro-Europe so i'm obv not voting conservative ;) |

| I don't think I am gonna bother tbh, it won't make the blindest bit of difference. The country will still be run by a bunch of ups :p |

I’m not! :(
Last year I moved in with my Grandad, and in order to save a quick buck on council tax he’s classed me as a “guest” so I can’t register to vote here or he’ll have to pay extra council tax. My first chance will be the next general election because we had locals a year ago (which I voted two lib dems, and one independent), by which point I shall be register at uni.
If I was going to vote, Lib Dem would be the choice for both. |

Don't forget the Alliance Party Irishclubbing :stongue: I don't even know if they're even putting a candidate forward though. So-called middle ground parties have never had any impact in the six counties.
Anyway, back to the question. The party I support don't have any candidates in my area, neither for the European constituency or local constituency. So to Europe I'll be voting for an independent candidate running on a 'human rights' ticket. In the local elections I'll be voting for independents too. The best local candidate is one I'd like to vote for (best worker for the people), but the party he belongs to prevents me from doing so! |

each election; local, national, regional, european needs to be looked at separately but unfortunatelty that doesnt happen. people will use these local elections as a referendum on labour and the europeans and a referendum on the euro when it shouldnt be like that. |
i couldn't agree with you more. people aren't voting on the merit of a particular candidate in relation to his or her political party, rather on the merit of that political party nationally. shame because it takes away the point of these local elections. its these candidates that we can get the most out of because its the most individual attention we are going to receive |

I mean what country would you rather live in, that has a better government?
Im very glad i was born in this country, and i happen to think the government does a good job running the country.

Lib Dem coz I like the idea of council tax being replaced by local income tax.
Not a clue about their other policies. Doesn't take much to convince me :stongue: |

if you lived in chesterfield before the lib dems got in, you would vote the other way :p
at least labour can put new road surfaces down properly! our current lib dem council just lobs stones at it and leaves the cars to roll em in....
i agree, council tax should be replaced by a higher income tax, but a) that has nothing to do with the european elections :p , and b) it would take legislation from a national government to change council tax like that unfotunatly :/
i still like the idea of jeffs party :toothless |
