Ok, im wondering what they are, surely it cant just end with Technics MK5's (gold edition or whatever)

there MUST be some insanely expensive deck out there, that costys like $10,000 a pop, anyone know of them?

not that i can afford them or anything, but hey, i'd really like to know :)

p.s a pic would be great as well

I've seen a really expensive one. Like 1500 or something but it was only a playing turntable. No Pitch Control or anything like that.

you can get loads more expensive and better sounding turntables than a technics mk5, they just arn't meant for djing with.

most expensive doesn't always mean best. Take technics for example :stongue:

there are much more expensive decks out there... they just arent made for DJing use. they are for audiophiles for the sound quality--no pitch controls--just pure sounds for hi-fi systems.

my dad has one of those insanely expensive tables.

i think this: Linn Lp12 Turntable http://www.stereotimes.com/turn012802.shtm

LP12 turntable with current mods: $3300
Ekos Tonearm: $2700
Arkiv II low-output cartridge: $2200
Linto phono pre-amp: $1600

wow, i didnt realize how expensive that thing is until i googled it out

and also, i believe his needle alone cost more than the price i got BOTH my 1200s for! :eyes:

There are turntables out there for 10-15grands a pop. The funny thing is that in the audiophile world..belt driven tts are the onces that rock and are most expensive (since this reduces the amount of vibration). My dad is a real audiohead and hes got a pair of Avantgarde Duo horn speakers that went for 15,000USD together with a tube amp (which runs on only 2 watts) that cost around 3000USD. But this is isnt really that much consider that you can get speakers for as much as 170,000USD (thats the price for a pair of Von Schweikert's VR-11 speakers)....I mean I've seen cables alone that cost 13grand. A Djs soundsytem (which is pure power) is pretty much the opposite to an audiphiles. He looks for perfekt harmony between base, mid, and treble so if he closes his eyes it will sound like he is listening to the real thing.

Peace, Dj Dissent.

Then again, it's not worth the money. For that amount of cash, u can get the artists to actually perform it live ;S

heh, except... not repeatedly, whenever you wish, and in the peaceful feel of your own home! :)

my dad's kinda like Dj Dissent's dad, too.
he just sits there.. sometimes with his eyes closed... and enjoys the music coming out from his goodness-knows-how-much spaekers.

Analog components can get VERY expensive. Here's one of the more expensive turntables, at almost $74,000 USD.
