Why do you think Progressive OR Trance is better than oneother? (pg. 5)

| This thread definitely has the potential to start some fights! Anyways, my take on it is is that you may start out with only trance or only prog, but eventually you realize that no one genre can cover as music fitting for all situations, so instead of limiting yourself to one genre, you learn to branch out and play music appropriate for the mood... |

I agree with the comment about trying to find music that is complex and interesting. I also agree with the statement that alot of trance is cheesy. That said I love and spin trance as well. To me this is the real challenge. For example, about 1%of all trance tracks released on a given week pass this musical test for me. I find that trance does offer as a some very musical tracks as well. I also love to find tracks which encompass the meldoy,emotion , and passion that many classicl music songs are built on. Thats why trance as place to start dj'ing is quite difficult imo unlkess you really are into the music and know what sound you want to produce. The bad dj's play the cheese while the good dj's (i.e tiesto, pvd, armin)pplay the best 1%.I just think that you might not have listen to some good trance. Here are a few recent trance tunes that pass my musical test and I think you may enjoy:

By no means am I saying trance all the way cuz I have crates of prog. house as well.
really digging this new prog. house gem as well.

yea music evolves and so does our tastes in it.
my taste in music is drifting towards progressive trance these days, which many people believe as dull and monotonic. but i always switch genre once in a while because i usually get bored easily listening to the same genre for a long time. |

| I think they are the same thing, IMHO people call music progressive because they don't wanna associate themselves with the rest of trance, perhaps we should call prog "seperatist" instead. Really, just because music is composed of some different kind of sounds doenst mean its a diff genre, its just that particular artist's style. The structure of the two are the same, they repeat and with yer head and make you dance, why must they be called different things. Its a tie. I know this kinda contradicts the apples and orange thing, but o well, its all entrancing to me |

| im a huge electonic music fan...and when someones asks me what genre i like i tell them anything trance,house,breaks,prog, etc... etc... but just recently i saw Sasha with the best speakers in the West Coast and i must say i cant listen to trance the same like i used to. Something about the Prog bassline it just s with my brain and goes right though my body. i mean trance is still groovy but im starting to slowly drift away from it. |

I seldom listen to trance recently.
Most of the new tunes have terrible melody and just find it a tad cheesy for my taste.
I'm just sticking to prog for now. |
