yup,
RAM (Memory)
System Memory
2 x 184-pin DDR Module Socket support 2.5V DDR200/DDR266 DDR SDRAM up to 2.0GB System memory.

when looking or ram get the ddr266 and get 1 gig if you can afford it.

As far a the processor (cpu)

do you have the v266a or the v266b, once you know check out the link, fo see what your board can support. I don't think you'll be able to go over a xp2600. Best bet email tech support.

My advice would be that you go to your local computer hardware store with your current computer
and tell them that you want the 1024MB of ram and atleast AMD 2600+ to it,
of course depending how much money you have available. :)

They'll tell you if you need to buy a need motherboard or not.

You could always got for dual or even quad processors, or even chain together a series of computers for added processing power.

That is actually the most efficient way, you'll get most noticeable computing increase.
Although it is quite more expensive than just upgrading current cpu and ram.

I'm just going to ask the guys down at the computer hardware shop for their advice.

And I don't think notificable is a word... :)

I came to the same conclusion...
It might not now be a word but you never know what happens in the future.. :)

Here I come.. :)

Pentiums are nice.. But overrated and overpriced.

You can get the same efficiency with less money by buying AMD, therefore leaving more money to other gear.
And AMDs aren't so unstable what Pentium fans tell. :D
Though they used to be, but that problem is fixed.

Specifically:

The new AMD processors have achieved over 100% better performance than Mac G4 and PIII systems and 50% better than Mac G5 systems. With rock solid stability, they easily push past the 32 track/160 effects limit. These are all top quality components proven to work with Digi001, MBox, 002, and 002R.

Woody4eva,

A few weeks ago I upgraded my system with an Asus P4p800 motherboard and Intel 2.8 gHz hyperthreading cpu and it only cost me about $350. This system absolutely rocks now. Can't beat the price of the upgrade too!

RAM, RAM, RAM, thats what you need. FL takes a lot of that. RAM is the easy to upgrade.

Hmmm has anyone mentioned MoBo speed yet :)

If you are running an AMD 2000+ with a Mobo speed of 100 or 133 mhz then you will see a good performance boost with a new MoBo/CPU/Memory bus speed running at 400mhz. Just got a new MoBO and AMD CPU myself after the old one went to silicon heaven and its rawking, but mainly because my MoBo sports an nForce chipset.

re Intel v AMD : yawn lol, I got nike what ya doin with Reebok blablabla :)
