i'm not usually into punk/rock/stuff like that (kinda grew out of it after hs) but for some reason i totally LOVE the Billy Talent album. just something about the screams, and the catchyness.. very good.
my friend has been trying to get me interested in RX Bandits.. it's punkish, with horns and stuff.. not bad :) |

I took Graham to see Hatebreed, Sick of it All & Chimera over X-mas in DC. He'd never been to a show like that. We had 'skybox view' (in DJ booth way up) and he thought it was nuts. The mosh pits were crazy!!! I was just pissed that we'd missed Agnostic Front by the time we got there- I haven't seen them perform live since '87. :whip:
And while u all will be at Johan Gielen at the Docks on my b-day, I'll be in DC for a wedding, and my friends are throwing me a party with BBQ & 2 hardcore bands playing in the back yard. LOL! (trust me- I'd rather be at Johan.... and if this psycho-ass skinhead from Baltimore shows up, even I won't attend my own party- he makes everyone nervous). |

DC was a goldmine of punk bands back in the day- Dischord Records had so many good bands putting out records. I grew up on a lot of straight-edge punk & hardcore bands, esp. from NY. Went thru the punk, skinhead & ska phases, b4 I finally landed here, making my final stop.
But the 1 band I have my lifelong roots tied to (and as cheesy as this is)- is Survivor. Was OBSESSED with them growing up. Let me tell you, I was the ONLY punker at their concert back in '85. They just made a Starbucks commercial and its pretty funny.

hahahha
i USED to be sXe.. now an edge breaker lol. i wish i had a better scene to grow up in... toronto was so full of ego and hate.. it was really pathetic, eventually it was the people who drove me out of it, not the music. I saw agnostic front when they came to toronto in i think it was 2001, i remeber geting kicked full force right in the neck, i didnt know wtf was happening at the time and just kept whipin my hands, but at the end of the night i had this huge bruise it was pretty scary. i still have a lot of scars on my hands from moshing and hiting other people studded belts lol. Agnostic Front isnt the same anymore though, neither are Cro-Mags or any of the other old bands.. its all about the tough guy, thugcore and techmetal now :D |

hey nat.. do you remember INTEGRITY?
MAAN.. they were and still are my idols.. no one does it like them.. so dark and evil, but still so hard and real. they are the bigest musical influence i've ever had.. i still got some of they're cds, ill listen to them again today hah.
Dwid, they're front man also did some work from Day of Mourning, a band from toronto which called its quits a while ago, u might have herd of them too cause they were pretty big in the states. |
