I am going to buy two turntables and a Numark mixer. But i have a problem. I have just enough money to buy these toys and i wanna know something about KILL Switches. There is a Numark mixer: DM 2000X and DM 2002X. The 2002X has KILL Switches but costs 50 dollars more. Are KILL Switches very usefull, or do you think i can beter buy some good records for those 50 dollars???
THANX FOR HELPING!!!! :) |

I own the dm2002x too and i LOVE the killswitches
they cut a part of the sound entirely (bass mid hi)
i use it in every transition like this
cut the bass on the new record
mix it in
when both records have a kick and maybe a bassline
i cut the bass on the old record and turn on the bass on the new record
this makes transitions soooooo damn smooth :) |

even if the bass lines are different?
i would think it would sound quite simply like one bass line cut out and the other cut in, a good ear could tell the different bases. |

of course you can tell the difference but it's the same effect that you get when a record starts building up and new elements come in
at least when you mix in a non-melodic part
when you mix 2 melodies thru each other it all sounds pretty messed up heheh
well i don't spin too melodic trance anyways harder stuff for me |

yah melodic trance doesn't leave much room for mixing except before and after the melodies. I have heard people mix in the middle of melodies, and when done right it sounds amazing, when done any other way.. like how i tend to do it.. it sounds.. well u know =) |

DONT GET the Kills man.........U should buy records If u eventually get in to clubs , they dont usually have Kills...so Learn to use the eq straight away dont waste time on kills might as well go straight to the equalizers...
well thats whut i fink neway

True, Eq kills are really not neccessory,.And i bet if you do get the mixer with kill switches you are going to have a habit of keep using them over and over again and blah blah =X ., go for the eq only setup.:D |
