I'm in a situation where I have the option to choose out of 3 cars

1. 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo (240 hp) fully loaded
2. 1991 Mercedes-Benz - fully loaded
3. 1991 Toyota 4runner (V6) rusted but passes road safety

1 and 2 cost me the same

3 is cheapest but ugliest looking one lol

I'm in favour of the volvo

1 or 2

test drive both and see which one you prefer driving.

I can't say much for the 2nd or 3rd one...

but a few words of advice on 1..

the Volvo 850 Turbo is a good choice, but i'd only really reccomend it if its been dealer-maintained, and if the turbo doesnt have too much mileage on it (those can be expensive to replace - always make sure to idle the engine 30 seconds before shutting it down to cool the turbo - thats how it is w/all turbo cars). I've heard good things about the 850 series's reliability so i think it would be good as long as it was maintained by Volvo.

btw unless the 850 T-5 is modified or an 850R model, its probably putting out closer to 222 HP, not 240. either way - it'll put a smile on your face on an open highway & desire to break traffic laws :p ive driven an s70 t-5 (not too much different from an 850) and damn, does the thing haul.

Only get an older german car if you have the money to maintain it. Because it will cost alot...

Toyota's are typically the most reliable, however any 1991 model will have issues to deal with.

I'd still go with the volvo though... turbo is fun :D
Rocco
go with the car with the least mileage

eh bro, its ivan(vrk)....
dood, i always say u can NEVER go wrong with a benz,
and u cant, but in this case roll with the volvo - newer.

plus it's already ur top choice.....get it man

Yep.. get the Volvo :)

thanks for the input, btw the volvo my father already has, the turbo doesn't work like any other typical turbo out there, usually when you drive a car with turbo you feel it kick in at certain rpm, with this volvo, there is no bump, it just drives like a regular car, and turbo activates based on how much gas you press on, which quite remarkable, and you don't need to idle it for 30 seconds either when it done, it also has the sport suspension and 16" rims so it's the 240hp version :) yet it only drink avg 11/100km city and 7.3l/100km hiway if you drive normaly, the volvo has almost 200,000 km, so does the toyota if not more, and the benz will very likely have over 200,000 easly, but all those cars last forever, i had a toyota and drdove till 350,000 without problems before :). My father can trade in the volvo for the benz, parts for a benz are a little cheaper, the cheapest way would be the toyota though.

If you want to impress the ladies - get Volvo.
If you want to impress bums - get Toyota.
StereoPrincess
do not go for the toyota.

at that age, that car will eat up gas like a fish and probably won't pass the emmission test when you have to register it.

PICS OR STFU :haha:

j/k

Get the Volvo - it's the newest... ;)

I would go with the volvo. I think the Benz will cost you a lot in terms of insurance.
