my mistake

With previous films, moore has not used US money, often finding funding in Canada. For this one, he took money from Miramax, which is owned by disney.
After it was made, they would not distribute the film, because they dont want Americans to see it.
A rich family (dont remember their names) have bought the rights from Miramax, which is why the film now has US distribution.

Actually it was like this: Disney, who owns Miramax wouldn't let them distribute the movie. So the founders of Miramax, Bob & Harvey Weinstein bought the rights and started a new company "Fellowship Adventure Group", that will now distribute the movie together with "Lions Gate Films" and "IFC Films".

Furthermore, Disney made it abundantly clear from the get-go that they had no plans to distribute the film. They commonly refuse to distribute politically charged or controversial films in order to avoid association, this was done with the film Dogma because of its controversial religious undertones. So despite the fact that Eisner stated a year before the film was made that Disney would not distribute the film, I guess it only became a big issue for Moore right before its release. At any rate, as anticipated, Moore had little trouble finding a distributor and he profited from the publicity, and Disney profited from the publicity when it came down to selling distribution rights. Very convenient for all groups involved.

I'm definitely going to see this when it releases. Down with the Bush administration! I can't wait to learn about the Bush/bin Laden family relations that have been covered up so well.

Yes Michael Moore does make, left-wing biased propaganda. But the difference is that he's doing the same stuff that the right-wing has been doing since at least the 40's, and really his stuff isn't much worse,in terms of bias, than the stuff you see in the mainstream media anyway. That's why I find him much easier to tolerate than the FOX network. As a phenomenon he is also interesting, from a Faucaldian "power" perspective.

Another question: is it Fahrenheit nine-eleven, or Fahrenhet nine-one-one. The latter makes more sense to me personally, because it makes more explicit the reference to Ray Bradbury's book "Fahrenheit 451" in the title.

You are obviously studing and becoming a scholar. I am actually studying power politics myself and was surprised to see you use political jargon such as "Faucaldian". What are you studying?

Actually I am reading Fahrenheit 451 right now, coincidence huh?
I actually bought the movie as well on K-Mart for 11,95, think I'll be seing it next week. They are also doing a remake of it, can't wait till it's being released.
