It's that time again... less then 2 months away from Global Gathering 2004 and its lunacies.
Those of you who were with us in 2002 will remember the infamous POTATO CHIMNEY... yes that's right we built a real life working chimney out of potatoes in the GKGG car park. People came and watched in wonder as we formed this amazing creation. The final triumph came when we lit the paper inside and the chimney did its job! hurrah!
Last year UKTAs sought to beat their previous years efforts... the plan being to erect a SPAM PYRAMID. Though there was effort made the foolish organiser (me) forgot to bring the critical can of spam to allow the formation of this fantastical structure. All was not lost though for the spam was used on the UKTA sign represent our beliefs in the humourous nature of the salty luncheon meat. Spam fun was had by all.
And so finally we come to this year's idiocy.
UKTAs I challenge you to create model boats worthy of sailing in our home-made fully mobile lake (a washing up bowl).
Here are some pictures showing how we made a boat in the hope of inspiring you guys to make ur own:
The creation:
The testing:
Ste's untested boat... very fancy looking... but will it float!?
Some come on... lets get building!
oh erm.. the winner gets some prize of some sort of my choosing.... trust me it will be worth it ;)
EDIT: SUMMARY OF RULES
* The boats must be of homemade construction... NO cheap plastic bought from the toy shop affair (luke :p)
* Team efforts are allowed.. though no more than 3 people per team plese.
* Any material can be used.. originality will be praised.
* The boat must float
* The boat must be within 42 x 52 cm
* The boat will be judge on design in terms of style, sturdyness and attention to detail.
* The judges decision is final. |

| i presume the winner shall be chosen by style/design after floatability? shouldnt be too hard i presume .. do the boats have to be made of flyers? |
|

| the boats can be made of what you like really... the boats do have to pass the flotation test to be in at a chance for the first prize... yes the boats will then be judged on design in terms of style, sturdyness and attention to detail. |

any material...remember though, originality will be praised.
i'd say teams can consist of no more than 3 members.. this ensures there'll be plenty of boats (hopefully)... i aint gonna get all upity if 'x,y, z made a boat but b helped us get he material' though lol
don't forget the boat has to pass the float test so it must be able to fit in a washing up bowl ;) |
