they're amazing, agreed. But no one can stop a speedster liek Thierry Henri. He's got the speed of Robbie Owen and the footwork of Maradonna.

turn off your caps man, no need for that.

and there's one golden rule i've learned in all my years of being a goalkeeper. it's never the keeper's fault. why? because the ball should never be back there to begin with.

Buffon is key and if he gets injured which he won't we have arguably one of the top 5 goalkeepers in the world in Toldo. Gattuso will not start especially after he mouthed off today. I was watching RAI and he was saying that Trap does not know how to make the line-ups and such and complaining about his time. I think Zambrotta and Fiore are key, Pirlo and Del Piero also will complete the mid-field in my mind. Perrota & Camorenesi either subbing for Fiore or Pirlo. Gattuso is just surplus.

Ehh, big mouth! BTW, dont forget about my favorite defender in the '02 WC... Panucci. :tongue2

Its a shame that Maldini wont play in world tournaments anymore.

Sorry about the caps mate just had to show my agression some how.

Good point about the keeper but even so do not go in two footed with studs up in a finale when it is 0-0

Panucci is the man and if Italia needs to get rough bring in Materazzi

yes, i agree tih you 100% here. you should never go in like that. I remember in the Euro2000, the Romanian keeper actually flew at Michael Owen feet first. Like he was totally horizontal in the air with his studs right in Owen's face. Owen manuevered the ball awy and scored.:toothless

true. big loss to the italian boys. however, one amazing thing about them is their cohesion, especially in the back. i'm sure that even without maldini they will still be an excellent team.

Maldini does still play in league play... and Im sure he helps and teaches the young ones. And who better to teach, than one of the best defenders ever to play.

As teh only grl in this post i have to say that the italian national team is the most beautiful...lol

on a more serious note its nice to see a good discussion on euro soccer here on the boards. I experienced the euro 2000 debacle(sp?) on tv in a room full of italians in sicily. Nevr had such a great time wathcing a soccer game b4. Then i saw ac Milan vs juve in giants stadium last august that was fun. Althogh i hate kick-offs---its teh hockey side of me i want sudden death! lol

you mean penalties? there's always a golden goal round before PK's, which works like sudden death.
FabioCannavaro
If she is talking about Penalties Im sure she is not a fan of Blatter. Maldini would have been extra special in the Euro this year.
