Just wondering what genre transitions and stages did everyone go through ?
a) What year did you guys start raving or partying?
b) How many transitions of genres did you go through?
c) What genres are you diggin’ these days?
Mine
A) I started in 1998 with the Rave Scene.
B) Chicago Hard House > Jungle > Trance / Prog (some Prog is cool, not the boring )
C) Jungle, Trance & Prog
I’ve always loved Jungle and Trance at equal level. |

HAha, same here, For a sec I read "gender transition" and got a bit worried about john :toothless

OMG I started looooooooooooong time ago... (and i'm only 21)
Growing up in Israel, I always had a lot of "dance" music around me so it was pretty natural for me to go into it...
I guess it all started when I was MUCH younger and was listening to things such as:
2 Unlimited, "KLF is gonna ROCK YOU!" :crazy:, Pet shop boys, and "SCOOOOOTEERRRRR BACK IN THE UK..." :stongue:
Then I was introduced to house, hard house, and psy trance...Was listening to a lot of stuff by antiloop (they were huge back then on MTV europe - HUGE stuff)...prodigy (don't even know what to classify them as)
When I moved here I was attending some raves and such and was a major Carl Cox fan...wasn't really into trance as much as I was before(was no exposure to it and i didnt really know what trance really was)...was listening to a lot of house, ministry of sound kind of things...started DJing and playing techno...
And then, on a fine night on March 18th, I went to the Docks to see a friend DJ in the jungle area...lucky enough Tiesto and St. Pete were playing in the main room....It was the first wintergalactic event, Tiesto's first visit to Canada, and just the beginning of Tiesto's rise to stardom, I distinctly remember the docks being almost EMPTY. When Tiesto came on i grabbed my head with my hands and thought..."OMG WHAT IS THIS MUSIC!?!?! -- couldn't stop dancing, I was sold...and the rest, as they say, is history ;) |

- 1997 (Hyper Hyper - SCOOTER!!)<-- the song that started it all) Also who can forget 2 Unlimited!
- Started with happy hardcore, scooter before they started to suck, dune, so on.
-Went from HHC to Euro :nervous: , Vengaboys!!:stongue: :nervous: , then ended in Trance in 1999 i've since been in Trance also like some house as well. |

those were the main stages but i still like all the genres but those kinda tracks would be on heavy rotation of my list when i was going thru the stages |

Raved a little 2000-2 (nightmare and stuff) dropped out of the scene 2003 (cleaned up my act, got good grades), Hit the club scene hard 2004.
Crystal Method/Prodigy/Moby ---> HHC ---> Trance ---> House/Hard House/Tribal

then around 02 started liking house, some techno, and then TRANCE :D
now i really like jungle and dnb, but i still love trance the most! (as well as psy/hardstyle):toothless |

ugh I have no idea where to start...
98 - turned 19, was into all the commercial crap..BUT I did hit a couple raves (literally 2, lol)
99 - started going to 108 every thursday and saturday when they played some damn good music, wasnt completely into the trance and stuff, but LOVED the beats...
2000-2001 back to the bars and the commercial crap
2002 - my year of the gina!!!! pure euro, loved lots of house, some of the cheesy "euro trance" as they call it, Lasgo, Sylver, all them people
2003 - I was saved (by lkd and the swamper himself) and signed up on TA :) and never went back!
(ok I go back once in a while, and I do put up with the gina beats every once in a while, but its Just because Im performing best friend duties!) |
