which island are you going to? each one is different. if youare going to the big island, that is where volcano national park is. i dont know much about maui. ihear kuaui is very peaceful and beautiful fo hiking and things. i went to oahu and i did a lot of different things. i would recommend that you check out the different beaches and go to the polynesian culture center - that place is really cool and they do a really good show with dancing at night. you should also take surfing lessons. when i went i went on a tour of the dole plantation which was neat. they have the largest maze in the world there made from hibiscus plants. there is also a small extionct volcano just outside of waikiki that is an easy hike with a nice view. there are some decent bars in waikiki and if you find the right people to talk to you can find some decent ravish parties - i saw dieselboy when i was there and it was a fun time.

QuickStep
If you are going to the big Island, which side are you staying on? It makes a difference.

The Hilo side is more locals and islanders. Some pretty cools sites with volcano and beaches. I think down towards Kalapana has the red snad beach and a few black sand beaches. Great for taking cool pictures.

The Kona side is waaaay more tourisey. They have awesome bike trails. Try to make it to South Point since there are some sweet cliff jumping there into the ocean.

Or is it the other way around? Either way, that's how the Big Island works. One side is for tourist and the other is for locals.

Do you get a chance to go to any other islands? Maui is amazing! Everything from the Seven Sacred Pools, Black Rock, Molikini, Hana, Hanamma Bay, and Makena are all fun to do.

Oahu is completely for tourist but has some sweet places to see just how the locals hang. I lived on Oahu for 10 months for school and could give a great tour of the "secrets" of Oahu. hahah, it's just mainly things to do that is cheap and really fun.

Have fun on the Big Island, and remember if you do take some colored sand, don't put it in you carry on!! haha, I got busted coming back to Oahu with green, red and black sand.
