hmmm... about that...
i dunno, he was just done. he said he was contracted to play 4 hrs, started at about 2 and at six was all done. i got the feeling he had a hard time connecting that night, and wanted to go get some rest. i am not sure though because i had half a bottle of grey goose molesting my liver and was pretty hazy. so when smiley asked me to go back on i said something like, "gglllllrrrbbbbblllle... sure... play records. right. ok..." i was visibly drunk, and bindra asked me more than once if i was ok to spin, because he would just end it there if i wasn't... i managed to stop slurring long enough to address the mike in the middle (as i was seeing 3 of him)with enough coherency to allay his fears. i mean it would have been worse i think if i got on and was horrible, than if it just ended. fortunately from what i can recall, it went reasonably well, and i played til nearly 8 am.
i have heard a lot of accounts of that night- that he had stormed off, or whatever, but i think it was a little less dramatic than that. he just decided he was done and was on his last record. i happened to stumble by at just that moment. he left, i played. the end.
but then i was really, really, drunk, so maybe i missed a bunch of stuff... who knows? :haha:

The DJ that has impressed me more than any other to stop through locally is Ferry Corsten. He played in my hometown March 18th, for a show that featured Ronald Van Gelderen, Ferry and Lisa Lashes.
Headliner DJ, plays for huge crowds, every increasing in popularity and what does he do? He hangs out near the DJ area for an hour or more before his set, chatting with fans, signing autographs, having pictures taken, etc.
Nice to see a DJ that knows who is responsible for his paycheque each night. |
Amen! The last time that I saw Ferry somehow the power went out on him. He laughed motioning to the system like "oh ...WTF?!" He was definitely laughing the whole time...kind of shrugging his shoulders to all of us like oops! I have no idea if he caused it or if something else did...it didn't matter. happens. It's the way that you handle it that matters. Nobody booed or got mad because it was too funny. He got right back into his groove and it was like it never happened. Ferry shows up early and stays afterwards to mingle with people. He'll even go to an after party if you invite him. He's just a serious people person. He loves what he does. I would be stunned if I ever heard that he stormed off.
Ferry rocks! :D |

yeah, amber, you missed it. i was kinda funny that night. it's just these damn dutch guys drink vodka like there's no tomorrow. what a bad influence. and then, you know, the bottles and mixers are all in the dj booth, so i was mixing my own drinks. you know how that goes, the first drink is reasonable, then as you get drunker they get strongerand u get exponentially drunk. a good time though- til the next night in DC when i was still hungover at 10 pm when i had to go on!
anyway... =)

| Ferry Corsten is the ing man, I seen him in Detroit, he rocked the crowd with his set and his interaction with all of us put the show over the top. He then showed up at an afterparty and hung out. Then we have o Tiesto, seen him 2 days ago and he acted like a snobish . Ferry is the peoples DJ. |

That he does. He goes to dinners/meet ups and to parties. He is definitely one of the DJ's that has not let his success go to his head. I have always said this...look around TA...how often do you see someone talk about him? Even if someone doesn't like his productions they still will say that he is a stand up guy. That speaks volumes about Ferry...the fact that TA is not a breeding ground for hate for him like it is with other DJ's. Definitely not fair to other quality people that also happen to be DJ's...such as Armin...but that's just how it goes. |
