Sasha!!!! (pg. 2)

It was good to see so many familiar faces last night. Especially Steven! I hope you had a grand time. :)

Last night was THE BEST sasha set I have ever heard him play. I have been waiting for the day where I'd see him play an essential mix quality set and I was not disappointed last night!!! I was really impressed how complicated his track programming got. He was doing a lot of looping, lots of interleaving tracks, and lots of layering. He was playing in top form last night!

Luke Fair played an amazing opening too. Anyone notice they they only played cds last night? Also, I could have sworn they changed the speakers in the main room. They are not Phazon any more - they are Dynasound. Dynasound from Germany has probably the most detailed soundsystem out there. It's in major clubs like Boa in Toronto. The music was so clean sounding last night I wanted to kiss the speakers ;)

Saw lots of familiar faces there, including a handful that I had not seen for months or years.

Great sets by both DJ's. But for Sasha, I think I liked his NYE @ Avalon set better.
It seemed like on a few occassions, he set loops that were not quite seamless, making it sound like something was skipping.

Could people please not dance in the hallways where lots of people need to walk through?

Also, I think most of you came too late to notice - the main room didn't open until 11:30 pm or so.

i think luke fair used some vinyls. noticed him with a purple or pink vinyl at one point. not sure about sasha. u sure the speakers have changed? then again, first time i went to crobar was in march, and it's been the same since

Amazing set by Sasha! Probably the best I've ever heard from him. What made it so good, was that it was all over the place. You never knew what to expect next. If a boring song came on, and you gave him 5 minutes, some amazing bassline or looped electronic sound would just pop up in the middle of it.

Hey buddy! Good hanging out with you last night :) The last time I was at Crobar was back in March for Sasha Digweed, and if you remember, they actually brought in their own phazon setup. Previously I was there for Deep Dish six months ago (and will see them again tonight) And I remembered seeing a different stack of speakers and Phazon labels on them. Of course, I could be hallucinating but I'm certain there was a change in the setup last night.

The highlight of my night last night was when he was interleaving Apollo with that Rowan Blades song - sooo goood! Could not stop smiling :D

Not the biggest fan of prog anymore but was pleasently surprised by the tracks Sasha layed down last night. Was really impressed with his mixing...he was working those records! Nice seeing all the usual suspects there.:)

I dont remember having that much fun at a mega club for many years. Sasha definitely surpassed any expectations I had for him. Crobar is definitely a great looking club and I was very impressed....not to mention I had excellent company :toocool:

Bea, you are hardcore! Dancing to the very last track even though you got a long ass day ahead of you. Post a full review of the concert when you get home.:)

I agree about the speakers, the sound was definitely better than I expected. Also the light show was disapponting. Just 'cause they have strobes, doesn't mean that they should use them so much.

This was my first time seeing Sasha, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but overall I had a lot of fun.

The only real problem I had that night were with those stupid horns. They scared the crap out of me the first time I heard em.

But yea other than that good times.

Im trying to find out the name of the 3rd to last song he canned around 5:50. It was a vocal with some chick saying "I know ..........?" "And if............?" followed by a pounding bassline and guitar effects. S&D dropped it last time they were at Crobar in March.

yes, please i want to know that!!! urgh

Loads of fun Friday night. Wanted to hear some more electro from Luke Fair, but he was good nonetheless. And Sasha....what everyone else said, all the good stuff.

Does anyone know if he played Youngsters-Smile?

sasha sucked 90% of the time in spite
that the rest was right on point ...

a pretty low ratio taking into account
the endless track and selection of
good music a well-recognized dj must
have

how is it possible to play boring music
when you could go ceaselessly the whole
night captivating your audience with a
more creative set

prob sasha had some legendary nights
across the ocean but from my experience
here he seems to be uninterested in
the final output of his performance

as if he underestimated the degree of
local refinement and exposure to good
gigs and consequently he doesnt mind
being so unprepared

w do you think mr neil?

saludos,

;)

"sasha shame on you" tread
