buy or lease? (pg. 2)

Maximas have some of the best engines out there. Definetely a good choice if you're planning to keep your car. Another good thing about jap cars is that they hold their resale value much longer, a definite plus when looking to trade.

Leasing is a good option if you do heavy milage otherwise it's not worth it.

Buy a car I think.

I sold cars for 3 years, so I know something about this. If you want to lease, you have to have "decent" credit. Meaning a score of 630 +, if it's below that, forget about it.
You say you are behind on bills? If your income to debt ratio is high, again forget about lease.
If you are going to buy, again your credit and income to debt ratio will come into play, this time for how much interest rate you'll get.

You want to buy private, you will have to get a loan from your bank. Before you start car shopping, go to your bank and get your credit checked. See how much of a loan you qualify for. This will help you in getting a car. If you just show up to a dealer, they run your credit and see it's not that great. They WILL put you in a car, BUT, the car will be a special finance car, meaning something ugly. :p Plus they will charge you a high finance rate.

Do your homework before you shop. Any other questions, feel free to ask me.

look at the new mazda3, a good looking car imo

I drive a protege5 and it's a nice car. not exactly the most sporty thing on the road, but I would def. reccommend it.

Oops, they don't make that anymore, it's the Mazda3 now. good call tranzformer. :)

yea those mazdas are cute and sporty. actually, i think i'm thinking of the mazda 6.

emil check your PM

i have no clue what the hell to get. and what sucks even more is that I can’t drive a crappy car. I want to have something nice, with leather and a sunroof and a decent sound system...that’s why I like the Nissan Maximas. It’s kind of hard because I’ve been driving my boyfriend’s car for the last 4 months (SL 500). he’s been nice enough to share it with me. But it kinda spoiled me in a way.

I love my 2000 Honda Civic. But if you go Honda go for an EX
Slylee
yea i considered those too:) they are cute.

I agree the Jetta is a cute car! I thought about getting one last year, then decided I wanted an SUV, then a year later I bought a Camaro convertible. Now I'm hooked on driving a convertible (so I can get "outside time" although living in Michigan, I get that for about 4 months out of the year). I like the Saab too & thought if I ever get rid of the hot rod I may get a Saab convertible next!
Good luck w/ yer decision!! :)

Leasing gives you LIMITED miles ( 12,000 a yr, and if u pay more, 15,000 a yr ).. thats NOTHINGGG.. ( it all depends on the distances you do and such.. ).

Buy a used car.. ooorrr, you can buy a new one, with those 0% deals. Nissans and Honda's are a good deal. Even Hyundais are now in the same level as Honda's, Toyota's and Nissan's, so Hyundais are a good buy if you ask now ( the Tiburon is mint ). And cheap...

people already mentioned this but making a lease practical for you really depends on the mileage. if you lease, you are limiting yourself to drive a short commute (10 miles or so) and that is it. i've never had less than 20k in a year, for example, so i would never lease for that reason.

as for the car, the maxima is a great car. i drive a VW passat. i agree with the guy who said the VW stealership rapes you on repairs (and regular maintenance) but they are good cars. also, they arent too expensive and they have a really good resale value, which will be important if you want to get a new car in 2 years. the jetta is cute but IMO it's uncomfortable (too small for me). make sure you test drive things to decide. each make has a different feeling to the ride and that might be important to you.
Slylee
i'm really undecided...my boss told me that saabs are horrible cars and they always have trouble. 2 other ppl at my work said the same thing, so i guess i'll pass on the saab:( i definitely want to buy because i want to be able to drive wherever i want and not worry. and if i want to tint the windows or change the stock rims, i wont have to worry either.

i think i might try to apply for a car loan with my bank. emil mentioned that, and that's what my dad has been urging me to do too. he said it's the best way. especially because my credit rating is poor. so now i guess i might not get in a car this weekend...but soon! gonna see what happens w/ my bank.

thanks for all the advice.
