I'm American... my family loves American football, and I seem to be the oddball of the group. I love Soccer and find it more entertaining than American football.

:haha: americans love that idiotic sport. It's funny though, I went to high school here in the u.s. and it was always the white-trash dumb kids that played american "football," and the more intelligent ones played real football and baseball... interesting.

I don't get why people arguing for 'american football' talk about strategy like it isn't present in football (soccer). Tactics can be very complicated, why don't you try playing some championship manager. Anyway i like it obviously for cultural reasons being grown up watching games every weekend, but also for the strategies and all the different skills around it, that depend a lot on the players position. Another thing that boost the interest of the europeans in it is the quality and emotion of the european leagues, there's always a good team to support - i can understand why americans wouldn't be interested in it, without an emotive competitive league. I also prefer games like football or even volleyball because it's a lot less based on brute force and physics, those games just don't attract me at all for some reason.

Wow, two sides arguing about sports they know nothing about. Great discussion.

  • It's a team game - it doesn't just involve personal skill, but it is about the performance of a whole team working together
  • It involves a lot of skill
  • It truly is a global sport played in almost every country around the world. All you need is a ball and a bare patch of ground and you can play. Well, you can play inside as well, which is a lot of fun (until stuff gets broken)
  • They play for 45 minutes non-stop, have a break for half-time, and then play another 45 minutes. Let's compare this to the average 30 seconds per play in American Football before a break each time, not to mention the fact that they have almost an entirely different team for both attack (offence) and defence.
  • It s all over American Football......

-football is about a team working together
-it involves a lot of precision and speed
-why should it be global to be my favorite sport?
you can play a version of football, called flag or touch football involving only a ball and a playground
they play for 60 minutes, yeah there are many stops but i think you would be stop by a tackle of that intensity
-players are REALLY injured when they lay on the ground, cause theyre proud, they dont fake
-a play involves the hole team at the same time, so its normal they get a break, its about physical thoughness not endurance

i think soccer is so boring
as much as rugby, baseball, hockey.

football as this special touch that no other sport has:
you work youre way on the field, nothing can be predictedyou dont see everything comin up, it surprising
