Great Tracks That Entered The Mainstream And Survived

i think we can all agree that when a good song becomes popular enough to be considered mainstream we either hate it because it just isn't cool anymore if everyone else is listening to it, or because it is just so overplayed that we get sick of hearing it. a classic example would be "darude - sandstorm." this was a great track when it first came out (it still is in my opinion), but with all the commercial hipe and airplay it was getting, trance lovers quickly turned their backs on the tune.

i want to make a list of great tunes that entered the mainstream and came out the other side alive. tracks that we consider great despite the commersial hipe and airplay. one track like this that i know of was a track that i heard long before i ever knew what trance was. the track is:

underworld - born slippy

can anyone else suggest great tunes like this.
djthunderbird
Thrillseekers - Synathesia

Darude - Sandstorm (I will probably be flamed for still liking it :D)

PvD - For an Angel (got pretty much airplay allovertheworld...)

System F - Out of The Blue

well maybe these traxx arent the best examples, but I can't think of anyother right now...

Mauro picotto - like this, like that, still a top tune, actually most of picotto's stuff. Ummmmmm in my opinion kernkraft 400 - zombie nation, if i hear it on the radio is still like it, it was massively overplayed, but i think once they stop getting played and you hear them again u rememeber why u liked them, so most songs can come back round. I always enjoy listening to my classics, bringing back some memories.

i was going to say "zombie nation" too.

i first heard it in a tiesto mix, thought it was killer, then suddenly i see the video on muchmusic (the canadian mtv).
don't know if it quite survived the mainstream or not...

The video really let it down, the song was superb, with a better video it would have got to number one in the uk
Paul Wilson
Da Hool "Meet Her At The Love Parade"

No-one's mentioned Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar! Class! I also think Robert Miles - Children is one that survived a caning on the radio.
serialkillah
Dj tiesto - Flight 643
Grooveyard - Mary Goes Wild

i guess what we call mainstream differs with geographical area. none of the songs that you europeans are naming are considered mainstream here in canada. none of the song you guys mentioned ever got ANY radio play here...as far as i know.
Durafei
Delerium - Silence(Tiesto MIX)
