That's exactly how I look at it.
I understand that if you're going to see PvD live and you're a fan of his studio work, you'd hope to hear a few of his tracks, however, Paul van Dyk is a DJ, which means that he has to play to the crowd to achieve success. When I go to see one of my favorite DJs, I don't judge the performance on what tracks they played, I judge it on how tightly they control the dancefloor, how well they control the vibe and keep the crowd into it. If I go to a club and the whole crowd is really into it and I'm able to get sucked into the frenzy with them, it doesn't matter if I even know a single tune that the DJ plays or not, I'll still have an awesome time.
hope that made sense:) |

| The last time I saw him he played a mix of harder AND uplifting stuff, same with Tiesto. I enjoyed both their sets cause of the variety. |

| I never really liked him but since he plays harder sets like the one last weekend at sensation, I will look forward to his sets from now on. |

Thanks guys for reinstaling my faith in PVD. Alot of you made some excelletn points. The point made about him playing to the crowd is something I totally agree with. The times I've always seen him plkay he knows exactly what to play to get the crowd going. I guess I love his studio stuff so much that I cant get over him playing another style while on the decks. I see all of you PVD fans on the 23rd, Ill be bringing 5 of my friends so I hope itll be fun.
P.s.
Does anyone have any idea bout hs set time for the sound bar gig. Is is 1am-4:30am?
does anyone have the tracklist to his show from chicago this april?? |

After seeing PVD's "new style" at WMC, Vision (Chicago), and Central Park/Spirit I gotta say I love it. I think the synth/uplifting/melodic/vocally/Armin sets are going to be few and far between for PVD (unless this is just a "phase"). His Spirit set was freakin awesome - dark, techy, banging stuff with a few melodic trancers thrown in here and there.
Here is a review/partial tracklist of the Chicago show -

Here are some kick ass pics/videos from the Chicago show -

Soundbar closes at 4 on Fridays which means his set will end at 330. I bet he starts at 1230 or 1 after Jerry Bonham (who you dont want to miss!) Cant wait for the 23rd. |

All we need is a PvD Re-edit of the remix, and it's set. |
