*i know that house & techno & trance isn't directly related , but this is just for example

gays didn't start trance, they started house

trance came out of the German techno scene

2 things for you:

#1: Larry Levan never played at Studio 54. He was at Paradise Garage until it closed in 1987.

#2: There is no mention of some very important contributors in the evolution of the techno scene Hot mix 5 and WBMX Chicago. If you listen to those old tunes from Mickey Oliver, Kenny Jammin Jason, Mike Hitman Wilson, Ralphi Rosario..... You will hear how Detroit and Chicago influneced each other.

*yes I had help with this;)

* Also, some people will argue that house music started with the sound of Philadelphia in the mid 70's.

I never knew Jeff Mills had a residency at Limelight...i probally saw him all the time then and never knew it...lol

And Studio 54 did not close because the owner died of AIDS...not even sure why you added that in. Studio 54 stopped playing Disco and began playing the early 1980's music including rap. The reason Studio 54 closed is because it went commercial. And going commercial is the only reason.

Ya, I never got around to really updating it. I wanted it to be influential, but it was more about the history of techno but yes I know the hot mix 5 had a huge baring on what happened. Actually Studio 54 changed ownership near the end but the main guy died of AIDS and from what I read, that was why it closed. If you have any article about the ownership, then pm me the thing, I'm more than happy to read it.

The key was that Levan never really played any regular club after 1987 and he spiraled even more into drug addiction, which eventually led to his death in 1991. Ron Hardy had the same problem but his problem was so severe, he sold records to feed his habit and it led to his death. I'll rewrite my history at some point but it is good to see that people are actually reading it and pointing out the mistakes.

Techno eventually grew to be a worldwide force all over the world but if house had not led the way, it would be vastly different. Derrick May eventually went into self imposed retirement because critics slammed his album in 1993 and he took it so offensively, he has continued that retirement till today.

"The reason why Derrick stopped making music was because the critics said "The Beginning" was a crap record in 1990. I remember that like it was yesterday...The British Press gives you two years to embrace and then they spit you out. I always thought "The Beginning" was brilliant...." - Frankie Bones

Probably should add something like "Frankie Bones brings rave to America with his STORMrave events."

Also, I agree with globalgirl. WBMX was huge from '81-'88, with guest mixers such as Fast Eddie, Steve "Silk" Hurley, Armando(RIP), Frankie Knuckles, and Bad Boy Bill.

What do you think?

Atleast someone here knows what their talking about.

Nicely done there.

One useless little fact though, the first electronic music was made back in the 50's by a dutch man (Dick Raaijmakers) in Eindhoven btw ;) This had nearly to no influence at all concerning the history of what we're talking about though, but oh well :P

techno was invented by jesus though.
