Just caught some short clips of orbitals last UK gig at t in the park.

I'm not the biggest trance fan, but I sure wish I was clubbing when these guys were at their peak. Absolutely brilliant.

I only wish they showed a bit more of their act.:(

couldn't agree more with you,i'm really gutted that i never experienced them live - did try glastonbury once i found out they were quitting but by then ticket prices were sky high on ebay. what did they play in their set, lots of the new stuff or a ton of classics?

Saw them a couple of years ago and they were great, shame their not doing it any more.

Seen them live once years ago and what a show it was!! Playing about all the tracks i loved and making the crowd go totally crazy. I wish i would've seen them more than once.

The brothers are also one of my fav artists who sadly decided to end their 15 years journey together as a duo known as Orbital. They started with Chime back in '89 and are finishing with One Perfect Sunrise. Both amazing tracks.

Orbital R.I.P.

hey grim, were orbital as popular back in '89 with chime as they are now?
if not, when (and with what rls) did they 'make it'?

No they weren't as big at around that moment yet. I believe their 3rd release in Jan '91, Satan flipped by Belfast, was the one made them more recognized in the electronica scene but not yet huge. Chime actually became "bigger" not sooner than in late '90/early '91 (it was released in late '89), it was more of an underground hit before that. In mid '92 finally promo'd Radiccio EP including the original Halcyon (not yet the album rework we know as Halcyon + On + On) brought them to the level they are nowadays known for. And it didn't stop there.. Lush made them more "pop" in '93, it featured on a lot of chillout compilations back in the day. So to my knowledge Radiccio EP aka Halcyon EP was the one making it for them but later on Chime has become one of THE Orbital tracks for many big DJ/producer in the scene now, Nick Warren being one of them.

They couldn't have finished better than One Perfect Sunrise. It's a good bye in itself.
