| I think as far as producers go, I still have massive faith in Ferry Corsten, Armin, Tiesto and the like. But as far as DJing goes, I think Johan Gielen can lead the charge. I hope at least. Nothing beats epic, uplifting trance. |

first of all!!... uplifting trance is not dying!!.. many uplifting is out!!!....
|
Obviously uplifting will never die... but prog is making a much bigger impact on the trance scene...
It's obvious which one is more popular these days when you have the likes of producers like Benno de Goeij turning to progressive... just listen to "Bennicio - Disaffected"... it has that amazing synth similar to Dutch Force and The Quest, but utilized in a very minimalistic and progressive style... Another example would be Signum, once known for amazing uplifting productions and remixes, who now produce mainly progressive/tech-trance kinda stuff...
The genre will never die, but it isn't half as popular as it used to be... |

i can say that if uplifting was dieing.. i can count on cosmic gate, BLANK & JONES!, Ferry, Tiesto, Fire & Ice, and many others to SAVE IT! |
Blank & Jones are mediocre producers IMO... their best and only decent work was Nightfly...
Ferry always delivers quality uplifting stuff... just look at East West - The Love I Lost... uplifting without cheese...
Tiesto has very few tracks on his new album that can be considered uplifting... so it's obvious where he's headed...
Fire & Ice have put out some decent productions this year... and if you don't like Souvenir de Chine, just listen to their remix of Sonic Inc - The Taste Of Summer... neither have disappointed... |

| i dont know what you guys are talking about, uplifting trance isnt dying at all. theres lots of good uplifting tunes out, just get off your ass and look. dumonde and lange-memory, ayumi hamasaki-trauma (dumonde remix), and theres tons more. im not gonna sit here and name them all cause it would take too long. uplifting is serving me just fine right now. it'll never be like 98 or 99, but its doing fine. |

You don't have much variety there... lol
Both of the tracks you mentioned are Dumonde productions...
I do have to admit that Dumonde is really keeping the genre alive and well... you can't go very far in these forums without seeing them mentioned in one way or another...
but besides Dumonde... it seems like most of the former uplifting producers are turning to prog... |

| well for one thing AvB has been playing progressive since his sets @id&t started. Tiesto played did play a preogressive essential mix, but that was one set and a set everyone knew he would because it was targeted towards a brittish audience. I should add it was a pretty mediocre attempt on his part. |

Hmmm.... I can think of a few who are keeping the faith...
Chris Raven, Phillipe Van Mullem, L-Vee, Fire & Ice, Airwave, M.I.K.E. and all the other Bonzai artists that continue to produce quality music, and aren't always thrown into the limelight, until recently... |

The only DJs that I can tally that have put out uplifting sets in the last month have been:
Piet Blank
Ferry Corsten
and
Blank and Jones
And, none of them were that spectacular.
Its pretty clear PvD and Tiesto are going total prog house, sorry to say. (Not that its that bad, just that they are better at uplifting, IMO)
NONE of their recent sets in the last month were uplifting. Some people are on crack here, if they think that...
I guess its up to Eugene to save uplifting trance...;) |
