Mark Oliver from the Guvernment in Toronto
heres a bit i copied and pasted from the guv site
Spinning Saturday's into a frenzy, resident DJ Mark Oliver is reputed for his staple Saturday night at Guvernment. Spin Saturdays began with 500 people 4 years ago and has grown to envelope 3,500 partygoers on a regular basis. With an extensive background in music, Mark has been an icon of the Canadian Electronic music scene for the past 12 years. Infamous for his talents and ability to play Trance, House, Techno and Trip Hop, Mark Oliver has played every major Venue across the country alongside every major international DJ/Producer to ever play Guvernment. In addition to being a popular local radio personality, DJ Mark Oliver's attributes are endless. Now a producer of his debut mixed CD 'Timeless Trance', Mark continues to make moves in the music industry. DJ Mark Oliver, a DJ icon and a welcome member of the Guvernment.
Spins 9hrs straight every sat night... And when headliners are in town, often, he puts down a better set than they do... Very versitile, can play so many genres. |

| This is a really good thread and a hard question to answer. My favorite techno dj would have to be Product 19 who just moved to London to further his djing career. My favorite breaks dj would have to be Rebecca because she plays the dirty funky breaks and there aren't too many girl djs out there. My favorite prog./tech house dj would have to be my boyfriend Adam Oliveri because he has really good track selections and because he is my baby. My favorite dnb dj would have to be Ratana because he plays intelligent dnb which is a completely different sound than most forms of dnb. My favorite live PA act would have to be Technoir Audio crew because they are really brilliant people and going places with their skills. Finally, my favorite trance dj would have to be Ryan Matthew because he has good track selections and knows how to make a dance floor move. |

In no partucualr order :D
Charlotte, NC:
VB, Koji, Karma
Other places in NC:
Anthony Paul, Terry Richardson, CandyMan, A deeper light, Joseph Rheuma, Naeon, DJ Riot, Junebug, eXo
I went to this party last week with koji, karma, anthony paul and a few others and it absolutely owned me, they don't show up on many of the flyers I get but if you are lucky enough to see them spin you will go home very happy!
Thats the trance people(if you are not trance and I mentioned u up there, im very sorry! If you are an NC trance DJ and I didn't mention you, again I am sorry)
Other local NC DJ's I've enjoyed are:
Charlie Silver(Breaks + Trance), Aeon(DnB), GetDownBrown(FL Breaks, retired now tho), Josh Chambers(scored a residency in LA, so he's gone now, he played breaks), Bobby C(The most monotonous repetitive prog you will find! I mean that in a good way), D:Raf(more DnB), Phobia(DnB again), Bane(DnB still), Kontraband(yet another DnB, they produce too), Arc(House), Radius(Garage, whoa)
There is like, an army of DnB DJ's in NC, NCdnb.com showcases them much better than I can. Now that I think of it, NC has a load of DJ's, I barely mentioned any of them and already I have a list about double the size of everyone elses, crikey.
Trance is a bit more rare but can be found if one looks hard enough. |

9 Hours is a decent set, .
And how common is a local Dj totally whipping the new boy/girl in town's arse when it comes to getting the dancefloor to groove? |
