Forget the superstar DJ wankfest for a moment and plug your favorite local, or even underground unknown spinner for a minute.
If you have the time a quick brief on where she/he plays, and style and groove of music is helpful.
For me Matt Nugent in Brisbane is a star. He plays hard dance at the family, and Empire and the regular assortment of Aussie bars, and usually is quite consistent in getting the place to kick. |

might help if everyone also mentions exactly (ie country and city) where they're from.
I'd vote for mark dynamix and yoshi in sydney, oz.
dynamix cos he can play most styles, and knows exactly where he's playing in the night. he may be first, last, backing a hige name or the main act himself and plays accordingly. House, prog, trance, hard trance (not so much now) he holds his own against the best in the world.
Yoshi on the hard end of trance, especially at closing time, holds people on the floor like no-one else |

Here in Melbourne, my favourite local would have to be Sean Quinn.
Luke Chable, Kasey Taylor, Chris Meehan etc. owe so much to this guy. He is the original father of pure prog in Melbourne. He has copped a lot of in his time for being too educational, but he PLays what he loves and made a decent living from what he loves for 15 odd years now.
From about 98 until 2002ish he was the King of closes here in Melbourne..if there was a big event..he was the main man closing. He Plays prog...dark prog...deep prog...yet he has the ability to hold a full crowd of 7000 plus for a close. Even after say a Paul Van Dyk...
He produced 'Dreams' the first Australian dance music track to go number one in England. |

Suprisingly under-rated. |
