I hate to break it to you guys, but Toronto is just a generic big North American city. Nothing special.

If that's your honest opinion, it's one you've earned through experience, or lack thereof.

It requires effort and passion, and a touch of " it, let's go" to enjoy the aspects of any city, big or small. Toronto has a lot to offer people of every walk of life, even you.

It's gone VERY downhill lately...party scene wise it's growing better and better...but as a city to live in...down it goes. I moved here close to 7 years ago and I'm just expressing my observations since then till now ;)

wow finally a decent thread celebrating our city and the party scene in it....

Toronto IS a great city and release is a top notch record store and i personally am damn proud to say that i can party @ 3 WORLD CLASS venues like the Guv, Boa and System.

when ever i talk to people from the states, and tell them i live near TO, they always mention that we must be so lucky to constantly have a good selection of djs rolling through.

When did TO start recieving such a consistant number of top talent?

its funny because nobody outside of the dance culture here realises how big the EDM scene is. Nobody in mississauga atleast.

Yeah, Oakie says its a good club so it must be.

well if anybody would be educated on the subject i think it would be him. Remember he has seen the rise of clubbing, the way we know it, from nothing, to what it is today. (obviously clubbing was around before, can you say Disco, bars, blues clubs, tribal gatherings, lol)

its an educated opinion, which i take to heart.

but i do see your point

Well it's not that big yet...but it's healthy and it's definitely growing which is wonderful ;)

when i speak to my friends, and tell them im going to a club again, they cant believe that i would be able to see a good dj that often. people in the GTA know two things:
Rock
Rap

atleast the people i have met, thats why i usually show up by myself at these events

Correction....people in North America (most of it at least)

And that has to do with just general history and georgaphy ;) But I'm very confident about the EDM scene....it's growing, Guv is more packed and popular...and we have LOADS of big DJs here this summer ;)

the one thing i am happy about is that it is not as big as rap/rock. People have short attention spans, and there is no way they are going to be able to listen to long songs, let along entire sets to appreciate the 'journey' that is a set.

i play my sets for people, and they ask to go to the next song. i NEVER fast forward through a set, even if i dont like the song, i find it ruins the feel of the set.

people here cannot grasp that concept, so hopefully only the enthusiastic will like EDM, and the money makers/wannabes can stay locked into much music.
