How was I dissing the florida scene, I gave the guy my personal opinion of florida breaks, I hate it, I've never enjoyed them one bit. You can like it, I don't like Baby Anne or DJ Icey, they have done great things for the florida scene but I never dug it. Hell I don't even dig adam freeland anymore, he is too concerned with hyping his own record label and that's it.

I am not a big Freeland fan either, but I respect that other people like him. He is going a little to cheesy with the remixes to me. Hyper, however, is fantastic. Meet Katie is pretty good too. I do admit that I like florida stuff, but I don't like all of it. In fact, I don't even like all of Icey and Baby Anne's stuff. I would say I like one in three or four of their tracks. Icey's "Different Day" album was pretty impressive.

Freeland has lost his vision, his label has evil 9 and ils albums coming out. Rennie Pilgrem has a new album out shortly, that looks great. Hybrid have a y4k album out in late august, and Remix and Additional Production By 2 out, god knows when. It's distinctive, expect one or both to be delayed. Hyper is up to some more remixes I believe, Uberzone released his album for y4k. Plump DJs have a new EP out soon. Elite Force has a new single out soon, he is in some European tour, so I don't know. That covers the big names

Grayarea have some new remixes out, their albatross remix with a hybrid remix is massive, I'm awake they did

Burufunk has some mixes out soon

That covers what I listen to or some of what I listen to.

We have similar yet different tastes in breaks. I love Hyper, Hybrid and especially Burufunk(Last Flight was the when I first got it). Plump DJ's, Uberzone, and Rennie Pilgrim are really hit and miss for me. I enjoy some of their tracks, but am highly unlikely to buy one of their full albums. A lot of my breaks lately, have been hodge podge producers or other genre producers crossing over. Sasha- Airdrawndagger, yeah or neah?

Yes there has been a lot of producers crossing over, it seems that every prog deejay worth a damn has jumped on the progressive breaks bandwagon. With breaks, I'm selective in what I listen to, Flo has been trying for a long time to make me like Icey but I just can't listen to his stuff, he has grown the florida scene, that's true. I was in no way dissing florida, sure it is a lovely hot place, I just don't like the breaks that comes out of florida, I'll probably eat my words one day. Breakbeat albums are highly expensive in Canada, I buy whatever ones I like, some are harder to get than others, some I got on promo, so that was nice. Wired is a little short in places but it owns, Adam Freeland's Tectonics was his best (lazy ****** he is, was supposed to get his new site up in Jan but it is july and nothing happened). James Lavelle is too concerned with whoring unkle (gu026 was obvious), I saw him last week, he plays most tracks from that. Hybrid's releases will take ages, distinctive is known for pushing dates back. Benz and MD is coming out with wonderful breaks and my fave of late is Madame Breaks, who Flo wants to marry. I'm a big silencer fan, there stuff is just right. Breaks is hugely popular, I suspect that people will continue getting into it, till companies have made all the money they can and it will go back underground.

Yeah, I am a huge fan of Benz and MD. Have you heard the Shiloh breaks remix of Oneric. It is sick. Deep Holden like bassline.
I, also, like Silencer. They remixed a Dave Gahan track that I have. I haven't any of their other stuff though. Will definitely listen to their tracks at the record store in the future.

I listen to a wide variety of music anyway, breaks is just one of the many genres. I review and put up whatever news I can for ivibes.nu, I'm not in the scene as much as I wanted to be but I'm getting top breakbeat stuff, so I cannot complain, James Lavelle needs to get back to me, Pilgrem Interview at some point, Plump DJs, I should work on this afternoon. I just got into breaks because trance got boring, I mean all I listened to was trance and I got bored. You can find lots of old breakbeat CDs in Used CD stores, we got a ton in Toronto, they are great finds and cheap as well.

Freeland moved to Rock Breaks or "Rocky Breaks" with some of his tracks like the Nirvana remix and the infamous "We Want Your Soul" and will be moving again. Quite the antithesis of his earlier works like his collab with Beber and BT on "Hip-Hop Phenomenon" which emphasized mad edits -- these recent ones are more straightforward. :)

That Beber comment reminded me. For the one who started this: Definitely check out Beber and Tamra's "U Wonder" if you can find it. It is not new, but it is one of my favorite tracks of all time. Oh yeah, the Starecase mix, cause the original is kind of sorry. There is a vocal and a dub mix. It is on MOB records, I think.

now lets see who's the better cock

Numb3rJuan
Quivver has some nice breaks as well.

dude, stop bringing me into this. i dont care. i never once told you to listen to icey, all i EVER told you was to respect them (fl breaks djs and producers) for what they have done. you can hate fl breaks all you want, but god damn it, it really pisses me off to see someone disrespecting.

you're precious breaks wouldn't be the same without the impact that fl breaks had on breakbeat in general. what, breaks are finally now starting to become really popular, and maybe like 3-5 years ago badass producers (like madam breaks) got into breaks, and now their making all the best music today that you jam out to today. well those djs/producers would of never gotten into it if in fl, 10-15 years ago, somebody wasnt experimenting with breaks.

breaks today = a whole bunch of variables + florida breaks
if you subtract fl breaks from that equation, i'm sorry, breaks today WOULD NOT BE THE SAME.

now, once again, andy, i'm not saying you have to like fl breaks, cuz jesus everyone already knows you hate it, but dont tell people its crap and not to listen to it, let them decide for themselves.

good to see you're enjoying madam breaks though, not madame :p

jesus, i'm so done with this topic. andy, please dont mention my name in anymore breaks threads, cuz i feel compelled to reply, and quite frankly i just want to stay out of it.
