| nice Matt. Now that you've got a shitload of experience, is it any cheaper to jump? What would it cost for a first timer? |

After you get a license, it is only $20 per jump.
As far as first timers, that all depends on where you go. You can either expect to spend anywhere between $150-190. You just gotta do the research on which dropzone is the closest to you, offers the cheapest rates, etc.
Here's a list of all the dropzones in the state of Texas: http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/No...exas/index.html |

The only applicable fees are the jump prices themselves, they cover the plane ride, instructor(s), and gear rental. Again, these vary from dropzone to dropzone, and this also depends on your progression through the course. If you request video with all or any of the jumps, you'll spend more. If you have to repeat an AFF level, naturally you will spend more.
As an example, I'll tally the cost of getting licensed at Skydive Houston.
Tandem jump (optional): $189
AFF Level 1 w/ first jump course: $289
AFF Levels 2&3: $185 per jump
AFF Levels 4-7: $145.00 each
Levels 8 to 14: $85.00 each
Levels 15 to 25: $43.00 each
Packing class: $30.00
Total (without repeats and excluding tandem jump): $2209
Package deals SDH offers:
AFF Package Deal Levels 2-7 (except repeats): $860.00
AFF Package Deal Levels 2-14 (except repeats): $1385.00
AFF Package Deal Levels 2-25 (except repeats): $1803.00
Again, these prices will differ from dropzone to dropzone.
With all of that said, a license is only for sport who wish to make a serious commitment to the sport. Its something that takes practice, patience, commitment, perseverence...just like anyone wishing to get serious with something like DJing. It isn't for everyone..so I can not recommend anyone to pursue getting licensed unless they WANT one. I will however recommend everyone to try a tandem skydive and then make that ascertainment.
Statistically though, 99% of the people on the planet will never make a tandem. Most people who do...only do their tandem and then that's it, thinking skydiving is a mere stunt and that they seen everything there is to see. 90% of all AFF students give up after failing a single level. No one is ever barred from getting a license unless they fail to meet the medical requirement; the ones who earn a license are the ones that want one.
Here is a Tandem FAQ that will answer a ton of questions: http://www.skydivehouston.com/faq.htm |

| Awesome Matt thanks for the info. I don't know that I'd want to go all out and get licensed but I was def. interested in what was involved. Who knows though, after a tandem I could get addicted... |

Sounds like a good deal to me mate, that'd be awesome! I'll let you know as I had planned to be at a friend's ranch that weekend for some tubing and shit... sure to jump out of a plane instead though. Let me get back to you on that :p |

There may be a possibility that you can do AFF versus a tandem. They *do* have parachutes up to 190 square feet (to accomodate those up to that weight in pounds):stongue: |

I was in the irc.undernet.org #political channel when i'm told
dn4: BBQWhales is here...don your tin foil hat

I am now 100% politically correct in everything since this event has taken place. That brain washing propaganda won't reach me thanks to my newly aquired tin foil hat. |
