my bro is 33 and we still go out there sometimes, i taught him when he was 26 and its the greatest thing. its never really too late to start. Unless you have some past injuries holding you back i see no reason. (or unless your just not interested) |

| well, i have bad knees. not from any injury... just bad knees haha! i guess we'll find out just how bad when i start trying to skate. if that works out well, i think i'll try the surfing. only problem is my fear of deep water... :nervous: but i think i could get over that. especially if i were down in fl/caribbean where the water is clear. |

damn skippy! i'm not scared of sharks. i'm scared of sea monsters. dead serious. so i'd rather be in the bahamas and see sharks then be in long island and have sea monsters swimming underneath me and not see them. |

| Wanna know the funniest thing when learning to surf.... Its trying to teach people not to go infront of the wave, but rather down the side of it," down the line"... Its pretty funny when they shoot out infront of the wave and then the wave catches up with them.... Im just a sinister bastad...... |

You're never too old to surf. My dad still surfs and he's 51, almost 52!
And it does happen to experienced surfers. I ing went over the falls for the first time the summer yesterday, and it was not pretty. :haha: |

:stongue: nah i know what you're saying, and i will admit i've done it. My cousin was learning and i said i'd push him into a wave rather than have him paddle. So a nice wave came and i turned the back of the board and gave him a good old push :haha: like three seconds later the wave ate him :tongue3 |

I've gotten tossed pretty bad sometimes. Then again, I'm crazy, when going for something obscene like double-overhead, if U dont get your speed up on the paddle, you'll eat it right of the peak from a drop-in that was less than hopeful. But I've definately seen those beginners that just shoot straight for the shoreline and its kinda entertaining to see them get eaten lol. And Shamez, first thing I would do if I wanted to learn how to surf, practice swimming in the ocean. Get used to how the currents run, and how waves work. Its training and knowledge that WILL save your life out there. Surfing is fun, but it comes at a price. Once we jump out into the ocean are all just visitors, so we have to learn first how to respect it, and ride with it. |
