Hey all, just wanted to get this out there. My father recently did some missionary work in Kenya, Romania, India, Nepal, et al.

He wrote a journal called Breath of Kenya that is about his life saving medical work in the small village of Koderra. It took me 6 months to finally get around to reading it (bad son) but I read it all in one day. AMAZING insights on the life of Kenya, and some of the problems. It goes from touching moments dealing with the thick white toothed grins of the children, to a father threatening to kill him if his cloudy-eyed daughter doesnt live.

It goes into the problems of how a man with leg ulcers kept coming in with them broken, and my dad tells him to just have his two wives (women do 95% of the work in Kenya) do the plowing. He later finds out they couldnt because the standard wife beating practices got out of hand and he beat his two young wives for over an hour and broke enough bones to where they couldnt work.

A shocking revelation on the condition of Africa...sometimes tears got in my eyes...i just think the whole book was amazing.

its 20 bucks, available on Amazon, and any money gotten from it will go to further missionary work.

Cheers!

yeah its not all a medical journal. Its mainly thoughts and speculations and conversations he had with the natives...crazy stuff. But fun in a lot of ways too. They thought a tape recorder was the coolest thing ever. but yeah, good read, and normally this is a book that I would never have touched.

hes a good writer too. He isnt some random dude. He ran large systems out of IBM for 20 years was doing western region for them. Then quit, ran a multimillion dollar coffee business, then ran a multi million dollar tech firm, then started his own fastest growing tech consulting firm in west coast history...he passed MCATS and LSAT and scored 99% on them and the IQ tests they all administered and IBM did. He used to be part of Mensa till they were all dumbass :D

hes a very smart man, insights are great, and writing style is captivating. No wasted words.
