That's rather cool, that something as big & old as the grammys are finnaly recognizing this form of music.

Little news article I came across on how this all happened:

agreed. like when love inc beat out max graham (airtight) for a juno.

I'm skeptical about what the award really means, because being the Grammy, it'll probably go to some EDM producer who's remixed a commerical artists track, kinda like Deep Dish or Hex Hector. And while i don't want to take away from their achievements, i think it's just a bloated award that really won't represent the very best of the EDM scene.

Also, i wonder just what impact the grammy acceptance of EDM as a category will have on the further commercialization of the scene, now that it's going to recieve it's own nominations. I guess only time will tell...

They also have a grammy for best album mixed in 5.1 surround now don't they? Unless that's something else.. but anyways, can anyone say BT's Monster Scores!?!? :)

Cool! It only took them 15 years to catch on...

But who ever said the grammys were not cutting edge? Not i!

This will undeniably bring EDM closer to the commercial realm. If by any chance, a time slot was appointed to an EDM artist to showcase a nominated song...that could help catapault this genre into pop status like that one little 5 minute performance Rickymartin did that time.

Yes... it is on par with Aerosmith, JayZ and Britney Spears:rolleyes:

Lately I've been hearing tons of Trance commercially that is...
To bring back the Z103 from awhile back, now they're playing Tiesto, Oceanlab, Ferry, BT, AvB, Above & Beyond.. And these type of tracks are dropped just as much as an average Britney track would get on air-time. I'm not arguing with it though, it's actually better than ever now.
djdustx
well...i hope they recongize producers who make EDM

rather then dj's who change up or edit a melodie here an there

*cough* Tiesto...*cough* PVD

Sebastiano :nervous:
