My first time at Boa too...unfortunately it was a *very* short one :(
I almost didn't make it...previous night's festivities and a wedding all day and night on Sunday left me wanting to crawl into bed and sleep for a week...but since we already had tickets, Beanieboy and I headed over to Boa to at least check it out.
Arrived shortly before 3am...metal detector and courthouse-like security was almost funny, but they were cool...walked into the middle of a BANGIN' set by Edgar V!
Impressions of Boa:
1. Sound and laser system is impressive. I never thought I'd say this, but it was actually a bit too loud for my liking, lol...but crisp, clear, not distorted at all like Guv lately when they turn it up too loud there.
2. Venue is excellent...bigger than I expected, although based on the talk (old theatre, pseudo dress code, 21+, etc etc) I was expecting something more "upscale". I'm not disappointed at all, it just wasn't what I expected. The stairs aren't *that* much of an issue, but I'm sure more than one person has taken a tumble...Boa maybe could light them up a bit more to avoid a potential lawsuit, lol ;)
3. Staff...yep, on the happier/friendlier side. Seeing one of the bartenders getting into Edgar's set was cool. Having staff that aren't just "employees", but seem to actually enjoy being there and don't hate their job certainly adds to the atmosphere.
Nice to see Nat and Graham...and several familiar faces...and meet Mark...dood, you are a party MACHINE, lol...I don't know how you do it :D
We didn't stick around long and bailed around 4:30-ish...I was exhausted and could barely stand up...but I left impressed and will definitely go back soon. Boa...more trance parties PLEASE!!!! :) |

Major thanks goes out to Durafei and Jeff (Floorwhore) for writing up those wicked reviews. I was pissed I had to miss the party, but not being a Trance lover I have a feeling the images I have in my mind after those descriptions is more than enough for me to pretend I had fun. Still mad I missed it though :whip: :whip: What can you do:thepirate I hope everyone there had a blast (I'm sure you all did to one degree or another) and I'll see everyone out there for Chemistry on the 6th.

P.S. Special thanks to everyone who made it out, Boa wouldn't be Boa without the TAs! A party isn't a party without someone there to enjoy it. You guys bring a sense of friendliness and fun to every party I've had the privilege attending (with you guys). Jeff I still can't figure out how you can dance like that all night long, you've gotta tell me your secret.

Last night was great. It was nice to hear some proper trance on Boa's sound system. For the 2nd time in a week, Flemming ripped it up. It's always a pleasure to party at Boa.
My one complaint is about people being allowed to smoke everywhere. I know the lounge was dead, but there should have been a lounge available for smokers. I really don't think there's any excuse for this. I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen on a regular basis.
Other than that, it was a a great time. |

Sorry to all, I didn't make it. My GF had a REALLY bad night and had to stay with her for the night. RJ got my tickets. Im gonna try to reschedual the interviews with the guys for the show later on. Ill be there for Markus

Trance on the Dynacord system sounds soooo good! I admit, I think it was a bit too loud last night but overall, the difference you hear in the clarity and quality of the sound is unmatched in any other club in Toronto.
I liked Edgar V's set, lots of big anthems, it's always nice to hear tracks you recognize :D J00F was amazing, I have never seen him before but he totally worked into the psy-trance! YEAH!
As always, great to see a large TA presence but it's too bad the place was so empty... I wonder if Boa will have another trance event soon? :conf:

| Aight, well I don't know how empty or full boa was last night on account that I wasn't there, but keep in mind, without the average amount of people in the club, the system would sound a bit loud, as people absorb sound waves, and boa's system has ample power. Just keep in mind, that if this event weren't on caribana weekend, the sound would have been at acceptable levels. |

i have to say it was a pleasure meeting all you new ta's thanks to boy trance, you know who you are :) even met the man himself swamper finally.
got to shake hands with joof, such a cool guy, stay right till the end till the last track of the night, and chill out with some very cool ppl at an afterparty
so naturally so glad i made it out
