Love the mixes. The only gripes I have is Josh Gabriel - Alive. Perfer the mixes they played in the essential mix. But, can get used to it very quick. Nice blend of music. Like the cover of Here is the House. Came out pretty tight.

Really? I like the new version of Alive. And I agree that they did a nice job with Here is the House.

Hope that they will come back down to Texas SOOOOON!!! Saw them live and they spun a mix of Alive. I want to say it was this mix that is on the CD. Glad you agree with me on the Here is the House mix.

It was the same mix that is on the CD. I was there that night @ Sky in Austin. I prefer this mix much more than the original.

Great cd! Both cds start out very well but both also have a boring period. Got some cool electro'ish stuff as well ;)

Cool CD release party by Gabriel and Dresden last night. They were giving away the new CD to people in the front row and when my buddy and I realized this, we dashed to the front only to miss it by a few seconds. :whip: :wtf:

ok so there are tonnes of reviews to read here, and now that i've finally found the time to pick this CD up and have a listen, here's what i think:

overall, this is amazing. the premier g&d album does not disappoint, and i'm extremely excited about g&d's recent success, and their many successes in 2003 and early 2004.

the first CD is flawless, an absolute work of art. it showed me a new side of complexity in g&d's original work (like Arcadia and the Andian cover of Here Is The House) and made me relive some beautiful tracks from the 2004 thus far (like World On Fire and Forwards). 11/10, bloody brilliant!

the second CD is more impressive, but t lacks the perfection found on the first disc. Voices/Athena is the most incredible intro experience i've ever heard, and i'm ecstatic to see Elevation's "Untitled" track reworked to this state of perfection! However, tracks Sub and Switch sound very much like fillers, and lack quality. Sub murdered what could have been a moment of pure euphoria in between Don't Leave Home and No One On Earth... and Switch is dull. 10/10, excellent work, but not as good as the first CD.

overall, 10/10, i expected nothing less from gabriel & dresden.

I picked up the CD yesterday, and it's been the only thing I've listened to since I opened it. I'm happy, in that it wasn't over-rated like a lot of tunes this year have been. It deserves all the praise that it's been given, and then some.

10/10.

The Andain version of "Here is the house" is ing ace. Damn I love Mavi's Voice. Overall 2 good but not great cds. Disc 2 is best imo. 8/10

These cd's are great to trip to. Seriously been on a journey every single day since I got this.

Great album, but ironically Sarah McLachlan - World On Fire (Junkie XL Club Mix) is the best song of the album (and not from G&D) :)
