| This album is GREAT!!! Superb piece of music, I don't enjoy only their remix for Dido - Don't Leave Home and Push track...Other tracks are just amazing, professionally mixed together! Gabriel & Dresden style is one the best in the world, their progressive mixes are mniami!!! :D |

first off, i really enjoy the cds. G&D are obviously veterans when it comes to mixing and producing, there is no doubt about that. i've had the cd in my car for about a week now and it's dope. i really enjoyed all the tracks on the cd, with the exception of 'Sub' track 6 on disc 2.
However, the progression of the songs is where i felt the cd really fell short. I've listened to many G&D mixes, my favorite being their last Essential mix and I felt that mix held momentum much better than this cd did. This cd starts you off slow, then progresses, then drops you back down, keeps 'uping' the momentum, then dropping you back down. I wished the harder pounding tracks would have been mixed together towards the end of the cd to produce an upward momentum towards the closing of the cd, but i didn't hear this happening.
other than that i would give this cd an 8 outta 10. good work dave! keep 'em coming!
pEy :D |

DISC 1: Favorites
6. Sarah McLachlan - World On Fire (Junkie XL Club Mix)
9. Gabriel & Dresden - Dub Horizon
DISC 2: Favorites
7. Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Club Mix)
The CD as a whole 7/10
Side Notes:
Alive is just sooo cheesy imo.Im not sure if its the vocals or the melody. But this needs to be redone. The synth patterns need to more mature or developed. The male vocals need to sound more mature. I cant beleive this is the same G&D that gave us Dave Gahan - ' I need You'.
Arcadia should be called The Theme Song of Mario Bros. ( Remixed by G&D). :wtf: Honestly. WTF is up with the nintendo pads they used!? I love the breakdown becuase it sounds like they sampled the guitar riffs from ' I need you' but the progression to the breakdown and the exit from it need work imo. |

I agree that Arcadia isn't all that. I do agree too though that the middle where the guitar kicks in is very very nice. I also wish Serendipity and Lament coulda been livened up a bit. It would be just totally amazing if they'd been able to put that Clocks/Serendipity bootleg out...omg.
I still enjoy being able to have Lament and Serendipity in the highest quality I can get though. Those two really got me into this duo and they are classics.
The rest of CD1 is pretty good too. Andain - Here Is The House is just awesome. I'm glad they remade that song. Awesome ideas there. I like the Audioholics - External Key/Andain work and Voyager - Someone Else/ATRC. Dub Horizon is nice too. I'm not a huge fan of that Sarah McLachlan track though.
The second CD is ok, not as good as CD1 though. The first two tracks are pretty angelic and nice. I was always expecting to hear Markus's original mix of that Elevation track come pumping in after track 2, but it never came :). Lili Haden - Anything is pretty good, especially once it explodes after the build up. The Above & Beyond track is just a classic, but it's sort of saddening and I have a hard time listening to it cuz of that :) The acoustic Motorcycle - Imagination just whets my appetite for the real thing!
Josh's ending tracks (Alive, and the last one can't remember name) are definitely a bit of a let down. Alive is cool in some ways, but he moved away from his original direction a lot (from what he played in the Essential Mix). I really liked the simplicity of the Essential Mix version.
Overall, 7/10. It's a must own for any G&D fan. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. But, IMO, it's not their defining set really. The Essential Mix and some of the GDJBs (8/02, 11/02, 1/03, 12/03, etc) are just amazing and are apparently unbeatable :) (woot for Portobello in 10/04 gdjb!) |

| Is this cd a compilation of tracks or is it an actual mix cd, so that each track is mixed into the next? |
