I anticipated a response like that, because I have seen you post a lot and you are an example of the 10% of women that care to immerse themselves into the music on an intellectual level, not just listening. Hell to be honest, a lot of times, being a dj or knowing lots of dj's makes the biggest difference in how informed one is, not so much gender. I hate to generalize, but guys seem to get more into the anaylzing of the music.

I would have to agree with you. I actually got my best friend addicted to trance. Now we are like a mirror reflection of each other. He has always been an EDM DJ...he's just evolved over the years into a trance DJ. There has been many times where I did research on music and found tracks before he did and then sent it to him begging him to spin it. We have the same taste in music so he listens to me. When he tells me about some bad ass new track that he's found I know the song will be good. I know that he will put a few subpar songs into his sets to appease the masses, but then he will throw in some tracks that I know most of the people around here have no clue what he is spinning. He is an amazingly gifted DJ. Most of his mixes are clean...transitions flawless. When he is in the zone it is like a work of art. We have been friends since I was very very young and he has been a DJ the entire time. I have never not been exposed to it. I have been to so many gigs of his that it would be impossible to keep track. If I am not out on the dancefloor I am in the DJ booth paying attention. I do it because it interests me...not because I think it is cool. He will tell you that I can hear a song mixing in before most people even begin to acknowledge it.

Too many people have no clue what the term trainwreck means because they have no clue that the DJ just screwed up. When I am out at a club or show the DJ sets the evening for me. He or she can either make it or break it for me. I am seldom ever there for the social aspect of it. That just isn't me. I don't drink and I am not there to get picked up. I am there for the music.

I am drawn to passionate creative people. A lot of my friends are DJ's, artists, and producers. I feel I have more in common with them than with most other people. I have a lot of people that send me their work because they know that I will give them honest feedback. I am brutally honest, but I do say things with tact. There has been many times someone will think a track sounds good when to me it is too cluttered or it lacks depth. Each to their own I guess. We have all felt that way at some time or another. ;) I am most drawn to songs that have drive and/or passion. For example...the first that time I heard Inter City - LNG (Lange remix) I was hooked. I think the track is brilliant. I could listen to that song everyday and never get tired of it. I have a very short attention span so that is saying a lot. ;)

There are many artists out there putting out some amazing productions so to me people really need to raise the bar to put out a quality track. Too many tracks sound too much alike...or remind you of other songs. There is nothing wrong with stepping out of the box. Most artists need to refrain from labeling themselves or restricting themselves to a sound or style.

My two cents as a female on the internet. ;)

Well since we've drifted into the area of music knowledge between men and women...

Despite the fact that women have (somewhat) won the feminist battle to get on equal footing with men, I still see intelligent females act dumb on purpose. A majority of guys will be intimidated by an attractive woman, and even moreso if there's a chance that she's smarter than he is. Generally, if people are looking for friends/shagpartners/love they won't risk going after someone that intimidates them.

With this view, a real sense of irony comes out - it's no longer the men that are holding back the women, at least in this arena. The women are holding themselves back, and voluntarily to boot.

Of course I don't mean to include all men and all women, I'm simply talking about the majority.

That is kind of funny. I am always brutally honest with my friends, and, especially, my own work. I can stand a mistake if the dj corrects it. My biggest pet peeve is the drawn out off mix, that most people cannot hear because it is a minor cue error. It irrates me so much, because I believe the dj should hear it and fix it. Better to be honest with people and help them grow as a dj than to sugarcoat and kiss ass. I always know where my mistakes are and if a dj doesn't at least acknowledge my mistakes before telling me they love the cd, I figure they are bullting or don't have an ear.

Lange is awesome, so it makes sense that you fell in love with one of their tracks. They/he/she? have perfected the driving banging bassline. I don't know that I have come across one of their tracks I didn't like. Although they stick to a similar sound throughout tracks, their sound seldom is cheesy. I have steered myself, a lot, towards progressive (especially melodic) and old trance, because I feel there is so much garbage trance being produced now. Almost all of the high energy trance sounds the same lately. I still find a track here and there, but pick up a lot more used trance than new stuff. But I still love trance, just feel it has gone downhill since the late 90's and early 00's.

Females like grooves, and others like hardhouse, and the rest like everything else.

Jerk pill. That's pretty funny. I will have to mark that down for use in the future.
